I just started out a few days ago & I've been busy jotting down ideas, some of which I picked up from this site & some of my own.

Because of the present shortage of prospects, I'm preparing the material I'll be needing & the plans to put them into action when the time is right. There's no sense to offer a product if you can't deliver.

Here's what I'm planning:

I'm putting a blurb about Kiva on all my shipping labels.

I'm putting stickers on all my envelopes both for Kiva.org & kivafriends.org

While I pay most of my bills on-line there are some where I have to send a check. I'll include a flyer with each payment.

I've taken the 2 opening pages from the Kiva.org website & had them printed front & back for a flyer which I'll distribute to mailboxes as well as under wiper blades of cars in parking lots. This will happen when we have some product on the shelves again.

I'll carry a supply with flyers with me on any shopping trip and/or appointment to hand to cashiers, shop owners, when I buy gas etc.

I'm working on a bunch of other ideas & will report on them in due time.

I'm just waiting until there's product on the shelves before I swing into high gear.

Thanks Jundee!

How about starting a new topic so your ideas can get their due notice instead of mixing with a non-so-good idea? Smiley

You're right, I should've done that but I'm still feeling my way around this site because it has a lot more stuff & features & the design & lay-out is quite different than the one I moderated. So I'm still on a learning curve.

I don't know if Joe can do it but maybe he can fix it & turn this post into a separate thread.

I could do that when I modded.

Well, maybe Joe can do it, but for sure Diane can do it!   Grin

(PS: You might want to edit the superfluous lines out of the original post in this thread, so it doesn't sound like it's referring to something that's vaporized, now that it's been moved into its own topic.)

I found the PDF files for the brochure & business cards & saved it to my computer so that makes it even easier to produce than printing it from the Kiva.org site.

I've also ordered stickers for my car.

P.S. Thank you to all who provided this:

I took a little of your ideas Jundee.  Just printed up some flyers and distributed them to two post offices, one grocery store, one library and the local Curves.  I need to print up more to put up the next time I am in the "big city".  I started printing out the color flyer but found that for posting on a bulletin board the black and white option is better.

Side note:  Spell check did not accept "Jundee"Smiley

Thank you Steff, it's nice to know I'm making a contribution already.

I don't care if Spell Check doesn't accept me as long as I'm accepted here. Wink

Don't worry, you're not alone. Even the word "Kiva" isn't accepted by the spellchecker...

Yesterday I was in a computer shop to see what's new. One of the PCs was accessible to customers and connected to Internet. I left it with the Kiva website on its screen. Maybe it was useless, maybe not.

Thats cool Robert.  As enthusiastic as jundee is, maybe he/she will get the idea to head to all the tech stores and put all the computers on to Kiva.  Just a little kid there.  I love your enthusiasm jundee.  You share some of my ideas so obviously I like your thinking.  Even if you only get 5 people on board thats still an accomplishment, and Im sure you and all of us are and have been more successful than that.  I dont mail much but Im getting back into selling on ebay hundreds of items and I wanted kiva address labels.  Also wanted to Kiva out my car.  I have the normal bumper stickers, but I want to get a couple vinyl stick on logos of some sort, that would be really cool.  Read in a magazine I just received in the mail that it is pretty cheap too, less than $100.  I have a job that entails lots of driving. Im a merchandiser/salesman for a beer distributor so I rack up the miles from town to town and would get lots of exposure for the car labels.

In addition I hit about 30 stores per week.  Per haps I can print out some fliers from Kiva and get permission from some stores to hang them in the windows.  Also with this whole calender endeavor we at kivafriends are undertaking, I am thinking of buying and giving one to most of the stores and they can place them in their break areas where all the associates would see it, or just putting them up myself so I know they get up in a place where people will see it.  I think Ill post that in the calender section and see if people will also purchase one for the own work places.

Keep moving forward Jundee!  And dont hesitate to share your great ideas.

LOL! That's one of the better guerrilla marketing techniques I've heard of lately! Lots of clever ideas in this thread, keep them coming!

Thank you for those kind words akshara.

I'm putting something I had made in the mail tomorrow to Joe & DianeCharlie to get their reaction & evaluation & if it's positive I'll make it available to everyone here.

Great!  Keep it up...Ive learned, for myself anyways, that enthusiasm is contagious...it spreads like wildfire...I can sense your excitement and I relate to it completely, and its great to have you here as a member of the forum.  I myself have only been around not even three weeks and its a place that really means a lot to me.  I hope its around as long as Kiva itself.

We could also have return labels printed with the Kiva logo and Kiva URL. They might come in handy for the flood of X-mas cards that most of us are going to send. VistaPrint allows custom design for labels. Are there any artistic / graphic geniuses among us who could create a template for us to use on Vistaprint? Incidentally when ordered via iGive.com VistaPrint donates 8.4% to the cause of choice which would naturally be KIVA / Kivashoppingclub.com ..... and Henry would love to hunt for more loans.  Wink

One of the PCs was accessible to customers and connected to Internet. I left it with the Kiva website on its screen.

I do that as often as I can, at computer stores, libraries, other people's computers. It becomes second nature after a while...  Find computer, type in www.kiva.org, walk away, repeat...

So I was at a meeting today in Second Life to discuss the new sim that will will get an office at. Joe came too. I'll keep you posted when I have less jet lag (I traveled over 20 hours to get home yesterday, 2 long flights and layover).  I came back to $125 Kiva credit from paid back loans, but I only re-lent $25. I'm trying to share.  So the credits are sitting, and waiting...

By the way, since I"m throwing so many topics in this thread, I'd like to say that I have now had over $2000 paid back to me. That point has been very useful when I tell people about Kiva.

I admire your energy, Jundee!

But please please do not put flyers under car windshield wipers! I will nevere patronize a business who does that! Invariably, I don't see it until I'm in the car and buckled in. Very annoying! And people (not me, of course  Smiley) throw them on the ground, and it makes a mess. Well, maybe they don't do that in Canada. But we have to market without being obnoxious. It's a fine line. Many businesses cross it.

Don't you have to have a permit to place fliers under car windshield wipers?  I know you do in Iowa and Illinois, my daughter found that out the hard way.   I agree with Dottie about how obnoxious they are, even the ones with free coupons.

Actually I gave up on that idea. It's more time consuming then putting it in mail boxes because I would call on the plaza management office for permission & quite a few wanted to know details of what Kiva was.

Out of six I called on I got 4 ok's & two "no thanks."

Some things work, some don't.
