One of the PCs was accessible to customers and connected to Internet. I left it with the Kiva website on its screen.

LOL! That's one of the better guerrilla marketing techniques I've heard of lately! Lots of clever ideas in this thread, keep them coming!

Thank you for those kind words akshara.

I'm putting something I had made in the mail tomorrow to Joe & DianeCharlie to get their reaction & evaluation & if it's positive I'll make it available to everyone here.

Great!  Keep it up...Ive learned, for myself anyways, that enthusiasm is contagious...it spreads like wildfire...I can sense your excitement and I relate to it completely, and its great to have you here as a member of the forum.  I myself have only been around not even three weeks and its a place that really means a lot to me.  I hope its around as long as Kiva itself.

My only solace is that I find a peaceful place where I might be resigned to my depriving loneliness.

We could also have return labels printed with the Kiva logo and Kiva URL. They might come in handy for the flood of X-mas cards that most of us are going to send. VistaPrint allows custom design for labels. Are there any artistic / graphic geniuses among us who could create a template for us to use on Vistaprint? Incidentally when ordered via iGive.com VistaPrint donates 8.4% to the cause of choice which would naturally be KIVA / Kivashoppingclub.com ..... and Henry would love to hunt for more loans.  Wink

One of the PCs was accessible to customers and connected to Internet. I left it with the Kiva website on its screen.

I do that as often as I can, at computer stores, libraries, other people's computers. It becomes second nature after a while...  Find computer, type in www.kiva.org, walk away, repeat...

So I was at a meeting today in Second Life to discuss the new sim that will will get an office at. Joe came too. I'll keep you posted when I have less jet lag (I traveled over 20 hours to get home yesterday, 2 long flights and layover).  I came back to $125 Kiva credit from paid back loans, but I only re-lent $25. I'm trying to share.  So the credits are sitting, and waiting...

By the way, since I"m throwing so many topics in this thread, I'd like to say that I have now had over $2000 paid back to me. That point has been very useful when I tell people about Kiva.

I admire your energy, Jundee!

But please please do not put flyers under car windshield wipers! I will nevere patronize a business who does that! Invariably, I don't see it until I'm in the car and buckled in. Very annoying! And people (not me, of course  Smiley) throw them on the ground, and it makes a mess. Well, maybe they don't do that in Canada. But we have to market without being obnoxious. It's a fine line. Many businesses cross it.

Don't you have to have a permit to place fliers under car windshield wipers?  I know you do in Iowa and Illinois, my daughter found that out the hard way.   I agree with Dottie about how obnoxious they are, even the ones with free coupons.

Actually I gave up on that idea. It's more time consuming then putting it in mail boxes because I would call on the plaza management office for permission & quite a few wanted to know details of what Kiva was.

Out of six I called on I got 4 ok's & two "no thanks."

Some things work, some don't.
