I saw the same thing, and was able to change it to 50$.  I got up to the screen where I sign into Pay Pal, and exited.  I'm sure it would have let me fund larger amounts.  (i have cleared my basket so that the test did not show any amounts being raised already)

I went ahead and signed into PayPal. There I played about with funding options and currency conversions, but Kiva's basked wasn't altered or denied. I could have made my $50 loan, but emptied my basket and left. This doesn't surprise me, as it isn't PayPal's business to discuss the contents of an invoice.
