Thought it'd be fun to note some of the more
interesting/unusual/creative ways our Entrepreneurs make a living.

Here are a few to try to get this rolling:

BUYS, PEELS AND SELLS GARLIC
http://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=businesses&action=about&id=18342

Adelina Vega Bacilio- Peru-

"...... When she left her village, she looked for a job and found one removing the veins of yellow chili peppers (aji escabeche) for drying or grinding..... she quit her job and started buying garlic, to peel and sell in bulk ..... She presently peels and sells 300 kilograms of garlic weekly, giving jobs to three young women....."

GROWS MUSHROOMS IN HIS CELLAR
http://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=businesses&action=about&id=8592

Ruslan suprafata-Moldova-

BREEDS WORMS
http://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=businesses&action=about&id=6486

Dimitar Dimitrov-Bulgaria-

GROWS FIELDS AND FIELDS OF LAVENDAR & DISTILLS LAVENDAR OIL
http://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=businesses&action=about&id=3259

Valentin Koprindjiisk- Bulgaria-

How about somebody introducing the newbies to "the Poison Seller?"

This thread is about the work of our Entrepreneurs,
but doesn't someone else want to start another thread
where we can share some of their remarkable stories?

I am impressed with Dimitar Dimitrov-Bulgaria- who raises worms.  Vermiculture is popular in Texas.  I have a small worm house for composting garbage.  It is a great way to make your own fertilizer and not fill up the land fills.  I also get free used coffee grounds from Starbucks coffee shops to feed my worms.

Only premium coffee grounds for Stubear's worms, huh?  Nice....

Buys Blood Dries Blood Sells Blood
http://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=businesses&action=about&id=18381

Flavia Nakandi - Uganda

"..... She buys blood in slaughterhouses, dries it, and then sells it to two poultry feed processors in Kampala...."

EDIT:  Peter, I loved your snail liquor "find."

I have in my portfolio a trio of folks who could probably get together to put on a pretty swell party:

Dossy Bushiri could set up the venue with her decorations business.

Eduardo Daniel Bustos López could set up an inflatable bouncy castle for the kids outside.

And Maria Quiroga could set off the fireworks to cap the event.

There are many other entrepreneurs who make puppets or play music or add to celebrations in other ways, who could add to the festivities, too!

Safia Rafiq and her husband own a modeling machine which they use to make plastic spools for kite string.

I immediately thought of the book, The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini.
