In this case, it's the borrower's second activity that I find especially interesting:

He is in his 50's, married, and has four children, including an economist and orthodontist. Two of the children are studying engineering and tourism, respectively, at a university.

The borrower and his wife run a guesthouse in their home. Additionally, he works as a soccer coach, teaching children between the ages of 5 and 12 years old. He has been teaching fundamental soccer techniques for about 35 years. In fact, he spent one year playing for Cusco’s Cienciano soccer team.

He is requesting a loan in order to make improvements to his guesthouse. Specifically, he wants to fix two bathrooms that are now very old. The loan will be used to buy materials such as ceramic wall tiles.

The featured borrower of this FRAC group is a midwife, who is using her loan to buy supplies for assisting at births, like gauze, surgical soap, alcohol, pain medicines, etc.  Her future goal is to have a special birthing room set up, that will be equipped with ultrasound, so the clients will be able to see how their pregnancies are progressing.

[I thought seaweed for food was just "gathered" from the sea.]

You are correct.  I think she has it spread all over the ground so that it can be dried prior to selling.
