Out of curiosity, how many calendars need to be ordered to have this project get printed?  What is the date that this will be decided?

There isn't a magic number.  We need to have 1000 printed if we want to get a good price.  We don't have time to wait for 100 people to preorder 10 each; I'm just looking to get a healthy number of preorders and expect to sell the rest after they come in.

1. Will it have a way to hang it without puncturing the pictures?

The printer can drill the calendars for a fee.  I'm kind of leaning toward not having the pre-drilled hole; I hang my calendar on the refrigerator using magnets, and if someone needs to use a push pin for their calendar, popping a small hole in the top is better than a wider drilled hole.  I would suggest that the layout of the top half inch or so of the calendar be blank space (not the photo) so that no one has to stab through a borrower photo just to hang the thing.

Short answer: it's more of a layout design choice.

2. Will the pictures have anything more than the names and locations?
4. Will Kiva or at least the Kiva logo be on each page?

Again, a design choice.  We'll know when Christopher has the final design together.  As far as I'm aware both of these things will be included.

3. Will the pictures be glossy or mat finish?

The page will be gloss 80# paper.  The cover just be heavy stock, no gloss.

5. Will the calendar area have small previous and next month calendars on it?

Yes.

Once the design is finalized, all of this and other related information will be on the calendar order page.

I think standard for calendars is to drill a hole.  If pre-ordered, perhaps it could be an option to get them without holes.  It might not save anything, but it could make everyone happy...

Chris, just curious, whats the pre-order total if you can release the classified info Cool

People have been commenting on hole vs no hole.  I dont have a preference, but I think wed make more people happy if there were no hole, because if someone wants a hole they can just stick a tack or push pin through it, and in the end it leaves a pretty much unnoticeable hole in the calendar when it happens to come down at the end of the year--in case people save them.  I understand that a hole makes it easier to tack through the calendar and hold it up, especially when we get to the latter months of the year...so if thats the argument, thats fine too, just as long as the hole doesnt interfere with any picture or logo.

The first person I gave a calendar to gave it back, said she knows I meant well, but she has enough calendars and wouldn't use it. (This was the person who first got me interested in microfinancing.)

Dottie, did she even look at it or through it before she returned it to you?  Thats a bit demoralizing, but would be some satisfaction to know that she turned down something she never even bothered to check out, rather than turn it down after she spent time looking/reading through it.
