Dottie,
especially since there will be no Kiva introduction possible due to lack of pages (did I understand that correctly???) I would like to see quotes included that let you know more about what others think of Kiva and what appeals to them...but I certainly understand your point. I believe however, that this calendar has moved to a different direction than the classical one photo calendar. I personally find that good. So to me, the quotes make a lot of sense. In a one photo per page without explanations calendar the quotes would look out of place and maybe even clutter the calendar...with our calendar, I don't see it that way.
Oli

Here's a quote from Steve that I like very much and want to throw in the foray for consideration: It's more than a loan, it's more than a charity donation. It's a contribution that can help improve someone's life by taking a more involved approach. Not only does it help people escape the crushing weight of extreme poverty, but it promotes a cultural exchange, racial unity, respect for and equality of women, and is a fulfilling experience for all involved as partners in the business." I will go through the other quotes and in order to voice an opinion will select 13 and say which ones I'd like to see included later today...

Dottie, check out Christophers latest draft of the calendar dates...the page would look awfully bare where the quotes are going to be placed. http://www.kivafriends.org/index.php/topic,988.msg9736.html#msg9736Scroll down half way and access Christophers pdf file, then scroll down the pdf file to page 3 I believe it is....in case you havent seen it yet. Thanks Oli for throwing mine in the mix.... how should we go about selecting quotes though...because like the pics, everyone is going to have an opinion....we could set up a quick two day poll with what we have...i can edit some of my suggestions down in no time, even exclude some, because total from everyone so far is close to 40 and that is wayyyyy plenty to choose from. But who is really going to want to read through them again and again to vote--its very tedious. Can a group of two or three of us be formed for this task alone instead of a poll? Maybe head to the chat room and sift through what we have in order to come out with 13 solid quotes. Would anyone object to that? Or does Christopher plan on selecting them himself? Also Christopher hopefully sees this and can let us know if there is or should be a word or line limit based on the design. I think we are agreeing to self limit ourselvs to 2-3 lines (not counting name & state or country of quoted). Feedback on this guys...

I would be very happy if a small group of 2 or 3 folks decided which quotes to use; they are all good, so any you choose will be fantastic. No need for a poll on this one, I don't think.

I second Diane on this one...a group of 2-3 people can select the quotes. That'll make things easier. It's harder to poll this, because they're not just about something graphic but words...

Good, I agree with the group as well, just want to make sure no one minded the responsibility falling on the shoulders of a couple rather than everyone having a say...ok, so who wants to work on this?

I am willing to participate in the quote selection. HOWEVER: If there are others who want to do this, I will readily step down. There's enough input I have had on the calendar so far. Maybe others want to give it a shot. Oli

Fine with me (not including myself as part of the "group").

Im kind of feeling like Oli too. Im doing the write ups along with him, and its not that I couldnt help with the quote "committee", but I want to step aside for anyone else who wants to step up to the task. If there are no takers though by tonight or tomorrow morning, I will be available to work on those with one or two others...so dont worry Oli, in case no one else can lend a hand at the moment. If you cant find anyone else, just let me know.
