The "counterintuitive perspective" and "unintended consequences" are critically important to our lives. It's like the old Twilight Zone episode about a night in a hospital without death,
"One Night at Mercy." Burn victims who should be dead are suffering excruciating pain because they can't die. The doctor (?) sees that circumventing death is not the blessing he expected - he just wanted more time with his mother (I think).
I can totally rationalize choices ... like the good I'm doing by
not cleaning my own house! My gal wouldn't have the work ... and my house would be a mess, thus I'd have fewer people over, so fewer would hear about Kiva. Plus, if my house didn't get cleaned I wouldn't be as willing to rescue pets, since the dog hair and dander gets out of control. See all the good that comes from my having a housekeeper every other week?

I've thought of the four Kiva loans I could fund each month with that money, but I
need a housekeeper! Yes,
need. We all need joy in our life, and this perk brings me joy. When I'm joyful, I'm more productive and prosperous, thus I have more money to loan to Kiva entrepreneurs. Not to mention the time it frees up for me to spend rambling on here on KivaFriends! (Yes, some of you probably wish I'd shut up and go clean house!)
