I got to wondering this when, listening to my mp3 collection on "shuffle",
I listened for the first time in months to From A Distance, performed by Nanci Griffith, written by Julie Gold.

It made me think of Kiva, and as I listened I could see the accompanying Kiva video or photo montage taking shape..

From a distance the world looks blue and green,
and the snow-capped mountains white.
From a distance the ocean meets the stream,
and the eagle takes to flight.

From a distance, there is harmony,
and it echoes through the land.
It's the voice of hope, it's the voice of peace,
it's the voice of every man.

From a distance we all have enough,
and no one is in need.
And there are no guns, no bombs, and no diseases,
no hungry mouths to feed.

From a distance we are instruments
marching in a common band.
Playing songs of hope, playing songs of peace.
They're the songs of every man.

....

(the rest of the lyrics are here, don't want to get in trouble with the RIAA or whoever)

A Nanci Griffith performance from around 1990 is .  Sound level is a bit low, you might need to turn your speakers up.  Others have covered the song, including Bette Midler and The Byrds, but for me only Nanci Griffith cuts it.

Julie Gold's lovely song seems to me to fit the bill quite well, so I'll go with that as my suggestion.

Am I becoming sentimental in my old age?  Probably.  Do I care?  Only a little...

by the way, a theme song for Kiva Friends would be just too easy..   Crazy, as sung by Patsy Cline.  Tongue
