It is stories like this that just proves to me that Kiva reaches into realms and makes an impact beyond my comprehension.  My eyes are opened further each and every day.  I just haven't been able to get this one out of my head:

Don't you just wish you could adopt her?

I agree, Eli, that's a great Journal.  Smiley

In truth, as discussed on another thread on Journals, almost any Journal is a real connection with the borrowers, and yet the ability of the MFIs to post them without the aid of Fellows from Kiva is severely restricted.  Anything we can come up with to make that task easier or more efficient would undoubtedly help.

Hi,
Ever since I read that journal, I could not keep it out of my head.
I've contacted Mekong Plus to see if I could help the lady.
This morning I got a reply back from a staff of Mekong Plus.
They have actually put up an assistance plan (see attachment) for Ms Cao.
What a story. This made my day.

Kudos to Mekong Plus

For now I'm sending 250 usd for the repair of the house (hut I should say) and try to raise the rest.
And for the little girl, I'm setting up a fund for her (child care/education/school fees ...). This will be sent to Mrs Cao on a monthly basis.
I hope that this will help them.

Thanks for sharing this wonderful story, Khang.  Sure does put a face on both extreme poverty and the impact of aid.  Keep us up dated, please.
