I figured I would share something that simply amazes me in the world of photography. The following link is to different galleries by a man named Manny. He is a Filipino and he has an "eye" to say the least. All his images all the more stunning when you consider he was a farmer and is now a teacher using old equipment. I would like to see him on Kiva one day asking for a loan to go pro. I wanted to work with him on publishing his photos but he never responded to my last email which was over a year ago. I even offered to give him a couple thousand dollars to get things going for him. I think maybe language was an issue or he did not take my offer seriously.

When I first became aware of the calender idea it was images such as his that I first imaged.

Thanks for sharing, Spartan!

I have a weak spot for good photography and his photos really are amazing...if you would like to contact him again, I have an idea: Jundee's wife is a Filipina and she might be able to translate your email to him so you could communicate...same could go vice versa. Why don't you ask Jundee? Just an idea...

Thanks for the reply. I'll keep the information in mind. However my situation has changed since my last contact with him. You see I no longer have a client in the publishing business here in Tokyo. So I would probably have to get high quality prints from him and make a portfolio and go around to different publishing houses and make a pitch which is something I cant do because of my lack of local language ability. Alternatively I could simply just make a book and self publish then go to different book stores and try to get them to carry it but then I'm in the same situation with the language issue.

I looked for a place to post this - it came today on my Astronomy Picture of the Day feed from NASA...
of course I sat up when I saw the word Kiva Smiley

A True Image from False Kiva
Credit & Copyright: Wally Pacholka (Astropics.com/TWAN)

Quote
"Explanation: Is there any place in the world you could see a real sight like this? Yes. Pictured above is single exposure image spectacular near, far, and in between. Diving into the Earth far in the distance is part of the central band of our Milky Way Galaxy, taken with a long duration exposure. Much closer, the planet Jupiter is visible as the bright point just to band's left. Closer still are picturesque buttes and mesas of the Canyonlands National Park in Utah, USA, lit by a crescent moon. In the foreground is a cave housing a stone circle of unknown origin named False Kiva. The cave was briefly lit by flashlight during the long exposure. Astrophotographer Wally Pacholka reports that getting to the cave to take this image was no easy trek. Also, mountain lions were a concern while waiting alone in the dark for just the right exposure."
