I think it is a very well thought of strategy Christopher. Thumbs Up

I am glad as well there will be at least one group loan in the calender. Like the others mentioned group loans are a big part of Kiva now. And I have to say the chosen pictures are nice, especially where the are wearing the traditional African / Latin American clothes. (not to mention the fact that with as little as $25 you can assist not just one but multiple people at the same time. Smiley)

Not that my opinion is really important here, but to me Steve's post came across as though he was really trying to be helpful and collaborative.  It didn't come across to me as a competitive type thing, obviously for others it may have, but I just didn't get that feeling from it.  Anyone who really knows me knows that I am really not into competition in general.  Maybe I shouldn't have voiced my rarely voiced opinion here?  Undecided I will get over the fact that 1 photo which I took for granted (never assume!) would in fact be in the calendar.  I just found it of much better quality than some others chosen, but I will get over it. Wink  And I'm sure many others are dearly missing those pics they would have preferred too.  I don't think anyone was trying to undermine the tremendous job and efforts in putting together this calendar which many have generously volunteered to do.  FWIW  Peace

After finishing Round 2 voting I was curious to see how it spread out when I put my picks from all three categories together:

• Eastern Europe –
   o  Bulgaria
• Asia
   o  Vietnam
   o  Cambodia
   o  Tajikistan
• North & Central Americas
   o  Honduras
   o  Nicaragua
• South America
   o  Peru
   o  Bolivia
   o  Ecuador
• Africa
   o  Togo
   o  Mali
   o  Tanzania
• Middle East
   o  Afghanistan

That looks pretty balanced Smiley  I had two that I changed from my original choice to get more geographic diversity.  The occupations are also spread out - although the only thing I did on purpose was to make sure I did not end up with 3 bread makers

Thanks PBJ...I appreciate you expressing that for me...I think what Christopher meant was not so much involving the pictures, but how posting the number of pics I voted for that made it into the next round, though done with no intention of anything, sounded competitive.  I wanted to see how many of my favorites made it in--that was about the extent of it, and it wasnt to attempt to 'have more right than someone else.'  I also made certain that other alternative pic ideas were highly encouraged to be posted in the thread as well--and by no means did I ever intend for anyone to think that the pics I listed would or should be the only alternatives, if any at all.  I think it was just an innocent misunderstanding, and no big deal.

As for that "5th" pic PBJ, I think that one was a picture from last years calendar voting that didnt make it through.  I recognized it immediately and put my vote on it as well...maybe it will become a strong contender if alternates are needed now that its been given some direct attention by itself.

Good balance Joan, I think Ill try that out as well.  It would be interesting if my votes were region/location balanced since I didnt take that into account at all.

Steve - my apologies  Embarrassed  I read too much into your post.
With all your work last year, and this year I know you are a keen participator and supporter of the project - and are driven to having the best calendar possible.
I think this year will be a good vintage too.

Hey Christopher, like I said no big deal at all...I knew it was just a misunderstanding of what I was posting--my fault for not being a bit more clear  Thumbs Up

I did it just because I was curious. I know that I have a bias towards a certain region when funding loans, I was happy to see it did not carry over into the voting. I was trying to choose photos that would appeal to a wide audience.

I went for what was visually most appealing mixed in here and there with the better quality write ups and stories behind the entrepreneurs.

My pics were:

Africa: 6
Asia: 3
SA: 3
CA: 1
Europe: 1

Although I placed Afghanistan in Asia instead of a more specific title of central Asia.  Not so bad I guess, although I would have liked to have one less in Africa and one more in Central America.  I really wished Mexico could get some nice pictures together, but just like last year, there were very few even worth considering.
