This addict can't resist a peek...
It has been a long time since I stopped by Kiva Friends. A couple friendly private messages brought me back this evening to see what’s cookin’ here. As usual, thoughtful, funny, heartwarming messages of great interest… which is why I QUIT coming here!
Talk about addiction… I had gotten to the point where I not only spent hours online daily keeping up with all the Friends' news, but found myself rushing home from fun, sociable gatherings so I could get online and catch up with my virtual Kiva Friends community. It HAD to stop! Besides the fact that it seemed creepy to me that I was more engaged in this (admittedly wonderful) virtual community than in my physical life (let’s call it “real life”), I was getting upper back spasms from spending so much time on the computer. Sheesh!
Cold turkey was the only way to go for me… but I do miss many of you so thought I would check in, catch up a bit, and let you know that I still have an eye on you from time to time. Queen, I love your “What are you thankful for?” posting and the responses it raised. Henry, Odette, W.F. Glenda, Diane/Charlie, Oli, AccountAbility… hello to all. Jill, I see you are still posting in spite of your hot/cold feelings about the experience from time to time. Kay, your 2000th loan!! Wow.
Now that the days are short, I don’t mind spending more time on the ‘puter, so I hope to be able to drop in a little more often. Am I kidding myself? The hopeful alcoholic deciding that its OK to drink every so often? If you see me posting more than 10 times a week, call for an intervention!
Safe travels, Laurie Writing tonight from Coarsegold, CA, south of Yosemite National Park

Laurie, how wonderful to read from you...I had been wondering lately, but you had indicated that you needed time off from KivaFriends. Still, the cut seemed to abrupt and harsh to me, so I am really thankful that you decided to let us know that you are doing fine and, less important but still important enough, do still care about your KivaFriends here...this place has changed, it's become even more diverse, as you will have noticed and a couple of newbies are enhancing the quality of this forum greatly. Nonetheless it is nice to see another "oldtimer" posting... Thanks for stopping by and letting us know about what's going on... Enjoy your Sunday, and greetings to Laurel Oli

Hello Laurie, It's nice to hear from you again! I know what you mean about being a Kivan...addict. Weaning oneself off this site is difficult. Good to know that you are out there, still travelling and enjoying yourself although your posts are missed.

Wow, nice "welcome back"! Good morning to you all, old friends and newbies - of which there are many since I was last here. Also, EXCELLENT job on the calendar, which was just getting underway when I drifted off. One thing I forgot to tell you all (and it was a little prompt to return to Kiva Friends): We have had a Kiva sticker on our motorhome and our Jeep for many months. No one ever commented until last week. Finally! As I walked up to the door of our MH, our campground neighbors stopped me and asked if we loaned on Kiva - well, of course we do, said I. Turns out they had been loaning almost since the beginning. They were a fascinating couple, have lived in an RV for over 10 years. I had originally noticed them because they ride a tandem recumbent bicycle, pulling their old dog in a little bike trailer behind (making a VERY LOOOONG bike) with a flag flying up top. Their names are Earl and Laura - never got the last name or their Kiva profile. It was little jolt of happiness to meet another live Kivan. Safe travels, Laurie
