Hi, everyone:

I can't find the answer to this question, even though it's probably prominently posted somewhere.  Huh?

I would like to put a hyperlink to Kiva Friends on my Kiva thumbnail photo, a la Diane&Charlie and Peter. Can someone give me instructions for doing this?

I have already PM'd Fred about this, but the way I found out about Kiva Friends was the link on his thumbnail photo. I think it's the best way to get new members here!

Thanks!

Hi Nicole,

It is not officially supported by Kiva, but putting the following in say the city box will give you a link.

Code:
<a href="http://www.kivafriends.org" target="_blank">a Kiva Friend</a>

The target="_blank" bit means it opens in a new window - include it or not as you see fit.
And of course change the "a Kiva Friend" to whatever you want.

Best wishes

Oh, it worked! Thank you so much. I changed the text to read "kivafriends.org." Thanks again!

The page does act funny - as I said it is not really supported - but it still works once you look at a page you have loaned on.
If you look on your profile page however the code then appears as text.

I've put links in as suggested, and they eventually disappear. I think adding something other than KivaFriends is frowned on and might be deleted by staff. I do keep one of my other favorite organizations in my lender page, Canine Companions for Independence. The field says "check out" and doesn't say what the viewer is suppose to check out, so I figured I'd use it for further good in another direction. At least I don't have it point to stuff I have for sale on eBay! I do like going to lenders' websites on occasion and seeing what they do and what they're about.

Guys let me mention something worth considering.  I know some are more personal than others, but ever since I have placed my email address, my kivafriends link and my google loan map link on my kiva lender page, I have received numerous questions and interests in various things related to kiva that people are eager to have answered.  Kiva does not offer a method for contact between members other than through journals which is not really their intended purpose and in fact might be reduced to that purpose if they dont pick up in the future....but for myself I like to receive inquiries from new kiva members who dont know the ropes, who are seeking questions answered, who want opinions and feedback concerning your experience with kiva....I think its another small way to draw in potential lenders, at least help them become more confident and capable when using Kiva.  I mean if 10 people email me within the next month, its insignificant, but it is still 10 people I can help encourage and promote Kiva to.  And at times we are who they want to hear from, rather than the org. itself.  Its like epinions...if you want to know about a product, how well it runs and operates, if its reliable, durable, worthwhile, you logically check with those who have purchased the same item, or in this case, utilized the same service.  So anyone who wants to make themselves just slightly more available to the potential kiva community consider providing an email address and kivafriends link in your lender page, along with access to your public loan map since people seem to just love the concept of that...10 more members is not just 10 more members, its 10 more people helping possibly people in the hundreds or more...

Steve, I am SOOO impressed by your lender page and your Google map. Is it OK if I plagiarize you?

Also, I immediately tried to make my own Google map of my Kiva lenders. I can tell it's probably going to be time consuming. Any tips (or html) you can offer me? I did manage to get one lender's name, location, and photo down:

For once I'm glad we only have 28 loans. LOL! Of course, once I'm done with ours, I'll have to do one for my son, my daughter, and my company.  Cheesy

I LOVE IT!!
