Oh, yes, Geoff, I appreciate that all these matters sort themselves out in due course - loans emerge in time from the FP page back to general availability, and the blocked amount (75% in this case at that time) becomes freely available again to lenders. But wouldn't it be so much better if the whole loan was freely available to everyone from initial placement to a genuine 'Raised 100%'?

The people who have the loan basketed can complete the transaction and make the loan. When there are so few loans, and so many many lenders, I can see that lots of people would basket it immediately. Most of those folks probably complete the transaction pretty quickly, or at least within an hour or two. So while the loan is hidden or fogged, it is still collecting lenders. Dottie B

Newbies must complete the new account and transfer from PayPal. This may take a bit longer, especially if one isn't used to such transactions. A couple days ago we fretted over expiring loans, and now lack of availability. Midnight tonight we should have LOTS to choose from, and any temporary basket holding will go unnoticed. However, I predict that by the end of January we will be out of loans again.
Yeah, the last minute lenders have a rest!

Here's a lovely loan in Afghanistan for all you CAI and Three Cups of Tea supporters... Wali Zada Sartapa Group Ghulam Sakhi, the group leader, has a shop selling vegetables. With the loan he would progress his business and buy more vegetables to have more clients.
Mushtaq is a taxi driver. He daily works hard to support his family members with the income he receives. Now he has a problem with the old machine of his taxi, so he wants to take a loan to buy a new machine for his taxi to work in a better way.
Aziza is a tailor. She sews different kinds of clothes and with her income she supports her husband and children.
The last member of this group is Nasima who is a baker. She has a bakery in her house and all her neighbors are her clients who come to her bakery and ask her to bake bread. With the loan she wants to buy more materials and wood.
