For all you teacher fans out there, i am holding some of this loan.  I will hang out in chat for a bit if you want a piece of it...

Daysi Bardales Angulo

Daysi, 44 years old, is a single mother. She has one son and he is her main reason for wanting to get ahead. She is a school teacher, and she gives reinforcement lessons at her place to kids between 6 and 12 years old. Because of the methodology that she uses and her good work she has several students. She teaches them in the afternoon, and she has been doing that for the past 3 years, and she is really getting ahead. The thing that she likes more about her job is that she gets to spend time with the kids that she tutors, that the kids can apply what they learn in their class, and that their parents are very satisfied with the progress their kids are making. Daysi works in order to cover her daily expenses and provide for her son's education. With the loan that she is requesting she would like to rent a space so that she can give classes there and therefore bring more comfort to her students.

Edit: all gone!  Sorry folks!

"Our daughters can contribute just as much to society as our sons, and our common prosperity will be advanced by allowing all humanity - men and women - to reach their full potential. I do not believe that women must make the same choices as men in order to be equal, and I respect those women who choose to live their lives in traditional roles. But it should be their choice. That is why the United States will partner with any Muslim-majority country to support expanded literacy for girls, and to help young women pursue employment through micro-financing that helps people live their dreams." - President Barack Obama, June 4, 2009

If you are fast enough  Wink, here is another nice loan from the Lebanon:
http://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=businesses&action=about&id=64860&_tpos=2&_tpg=1
Mohamad is a 30-year-old, single man who lives in a small village situated in the West Bekaa, on Lebanon's border with Syria. Mohamad owns a "take a break" restaurant in the same area where he lives. The location is perfect for this type of business. His amazing hospitality and generosity attract clients of both nationalities to Mohamad's restaurant.

I just wanted to add how much I particularly loved this loan!  I can't tell you the number of times I refreshed the screen just hoping that $25 would drop out of someone's basket.  It did a few times but even then, I couldn't add to my basket as it was already taken.  Eventually I got in and felt delighted.  I hope you were just as lucky.

KSC1 was lucky enough to get on that loan also, thanks to Colette grabbing a piece for us.  I just love the product, love the look and photo.  Love the terms.  I'm really becoming a lover of these Peru loans!!!

The alpacha loans of recent, i wanted one of those so bad, specially the one where an alpacha in the background looked like a giant rabbit.  Laugh

What a great picture!  (& write-up, too.)  Hope you got a piece, Anne-Marie.

I did exactly the same, refreshing the page like 10,000 times for this loan last night (my time) - http://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=businesses&action=about&id=64609.  Meant to come post, but got distracted by the refreshing  Embarrassed

I was also one of the lucky ones that got a part of the cheese loan released by Colette. Thank you once again for finding such a nice one and telling to us about it!  Thumbs Up

http://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=businesses&action=about&id=66125&_tpos=4&_tpg=1
Mrs. Sal Oar, 38, makes brooms for sale from her house. She makes about 40 brooms per day and sells US$0.25 for one. She has been making and selling brooms for about eighteen years. With her long experience, she can earn approximately US$5.00 per day, while her husband, Mr. Phally Chon, 44, is car driver for a company. Sal has five children, two of whom are construction workers and another son is gasoline station staff, living in Kdol Donteav Commune in the Battambang Province.
Sal faces difficulty to attract her clients come to buy brooms from her house. To overcome this obstacle, she decided to seek a loan of US$1,200 to use for decorating house to make easier for making broom and also attract her customers. The remainder of loan is being used to add her capital for making brooms. The loan will improve the family's income through expanding her broom selling business.
