I don't know who has what in their basket or why, but it gets to be very frustrating.  I signed up here to find loans I "don't want to miss" but then when I go to the loan it is completely basketed and when I look down at the teams I see the closed team Tisket.

It certainly gives the appearance that a small closed clique is hoarding the loans that all of us don't want to miss.  I am saddened that this appearance is so often seen.

This is a frequent problem, and has been for a long time. These people are completely blatant and shameless. It is within Kiva's power to stop this behaviour, and the point has been made many times to Kiva over the last 2 or 3 years, but, for whatever reason, they won't take any action. So we just have to put up with it, until those (probably very few) individuals change their selfish attitude, or Kiva thinks again.

Example - the last two Sri Lanka loans had the last $25 blocked for some 4 hours by someone (perhaps the wellknown lender and KF who was finally revealed as the lender of the last $25 on both loans).

Howard

EDIT: I should add that my post was not intended to refer to Tasket or anyone else specifically (and I apologise if it implied otherwise), but to whoever indulges in this unfair and undesirable practice.

What is really sad is that someone would make a post like this, based on nothing more than speculation, conjecture, supposition & assumption, without ONE SHRED OF EVIDENCE, and disparage, denigrate & malign fellow members of this community. Unless someone has evidence or PROOF of this accusation, I strongly suggest that an apology is called for.

(For those who do not understand or know how KIVA chooses to display the teams on a loan, especially the larger loans with many lenders & teams, the teams are "rotated" based on the page view. Meaning at one time a certain 5 teams may be displayed & at another time another 5 may be displayed or a combination of the two. Sometimes, a simple refresh of the page will display a different sort of teams).

Hmmm, still basketed.   Hmmm, nobody in chat.   Undecided   Methinks it is not the TaT team that is doing the basketing.

I spoke only of appearances.

The fact of the matter is that I was offered a piece of a loan recently by a "TaT" team member a full 6 hours after I originally tried to get on the loan.  This is something I don't want to be a part of.

I recently found a dropped piece of the Faten loan.  I hope it was from someone who changed their mind.

Based on the faulty, scurrilous & fallacious logic that has been presented by some here, it now appears that Team Tisket is NOT the culprit but the guilty party(ies) is/has been narrowed down to Team Palestine, Team Norway & Team Kivafriends  Huh?  Pissy

As I said before, I was speaking of appearances.  I credited my own piece to Palestine.

Palestine, Norway and KivaFriends are open teams.

Shall I tell you something? I am sick of all this moaning, blaming and scratching each others eyes out. This is not what this forum has been set up for. See where you find your loans from now on and get happy with them. I am on posting strike from now on. Pissy

I am the Tisket team member who offered David the piece of this loan http://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=businesses&action=about&id=173221
As I explained to him I had been watching this particular loan & 2 others. When I saw $50 of each loan time out, fall or be released from a basket, I grabbed $50 of each loan & then sent David a PM, stating that I had seen his post regretting that he had missed the chance to loan to Maggi Isabel and generously offered him the opportunity to get on the loan. He turned me down.

Here is the PM I sent him & his reply:

Quote
Hi David,

I saw your post about missing Maggi's loan. I have been watching for it & whoever was holding dropped her & two others which I was able to snag. I have $50 each of these three loans if you are interested.

Send me a PM. I will check back in about a half an hour or so.

Cheers,
Geoff
