FROM KIVA: You're receiving this email because of your relationship with Kiva.org.
I forget how you take a quote from another post, but the preceding comes from the Kiva Holiday Newsletter that Steve posted for us today. So, with that in mind, in response to Kay's having said, "I haven't received a newsletter, either,"
Hey Kay, Maybe you just don't have enough of a relationship with Kiva yet! with a grin and a wink.....

Thats funny Jill...and Kay thats the only thing I can come up with as well...that they are being sent out to different groups of people at different times...what defines these groups? membership dates? and why they would do that I have no idea...perhaps sending an email out to tens of thousands of people at once would pose some sort of problem. Anyone out there know that to be the case with mass emailing?

Hey, Ben - Since you're the one who seems to be fending off the Kiva Friends' many questions, any insight on this?

Sending tens of thousands of emails at once can pose problems depending on your infrastructure (speed of servers, internet links etc). Sending them out in smaller batches also has some advantages: - If you got something wrong, a typo that the office have overlooked, or it could be that some snappy marketing copy is viewed slightly differently by your audience than you intended sending it in smaller batches might mean that you don't alienate everyone and have time to rectify before the next mailing / larger mailing
- You are able to monitor response rates - the last thing you might want is for the tens of thousands of people to hit your website all at once and crash that too
- You are able to catch emails bouncing - useful if you have add emails from an offline source where they are not validated such as coupon or customer feedback
- There is less risk that you are marked as spam - thousands of the same email hitting AOL (or similar) will quickly see you blacklisted
and I am sure there are other reasons too.

If you think you're too small to make a difference try sleeping in a closed room with a mosquito, or give kiva.org a try.

That was such great common sense, why couldnt I think of that! If Christopher is suggesting that Kiva was taking all or at least some of this into account, and Im not speaking for him, but then we'll just have to wait and see if there are another couple batches of these sent out in the next few days or weeks. Im really curious, so if someone receives it, please post.

I have two accounts both registered to receive news from Kiva, and I have not received a newsletter for either account. My best guess is that it will come in 'batches' too. Could you imagine the amount of time that would take? I'll always have patience with Kiva, because they are doing a good thing and still heavy on the learning curve with their growth. It is a good thing remember!

Is it possible for the forum administrator to take the last twenty posts and move it to a new thread entitled "Kiva Newsletter"? Dan
