Thanks, and the same to you David.

I watched Elf last night... as I try to do each year... because Santa *needs* us to believe Smiley

God's blessings to all his elves and angels, here at KivaFriends.

Merry Christmas everyone! Spent the day with my wife, and an old friend who's been disowned by his family and would otherwise be alone today. Knitted him a scarf and sent him home well fed and knowing that he's loved, which sometimes is the best you can do for anyone.

Name: Carmen Domitila Nacipucha Puma
Location:  Guayaquil (Orquideas), Ecuador
Loan Use:  Purchase toys & Christmas lights
Carmen, age 47, has a vending stand where she sells toys, lights, and accessories. She lives with her son in an urban area called Orquídeas that was named after the many flowers that existed upon its discovery. There is now a park where orchids continue to grow.

Carmen began selling individual toys as way of having her own business. With a little effort and the motivation of supporting her son as a single mother, she opened a vending stand where she sells toys, lights, accessories, and other items. She gradually increased her inventory and now works every day from 7am to 2pm. Carmen sells Christmas lights for $2.25, toys for $2.00, and glasses for $0.60/each. One of the difficulties she faces is combating illness.

With this loan Carmen wants to buy toys and lights for the Christmas season, the time when she sells the most. In the future she wants to increase her inventory of merchandise and open her own store.

Although this is not as famous as the Flashmob "Hallelujah" clip, it is pretty good for a small Alaskan village, Quinhagak.
The 2000 census lists population of 555.
