Hi,
I'm wondering if Kiva would ever consider donations for a specific cause using the same model as a loan?
For example the MFI posts a specific cause that needs donation: for example digging a well to be used by a whole village, building a school ...etc and Kiva funders would make a donation to that cause in the same way as making a loan.
Regardless of the legal complexity because it is a donation, not a loan, so there is the tax exemption issue.
Would Kiva lenders/ donators be interested?

I'd be very interested,  Thumbs Up  Khang, but I seriously doubt if Kiva would want to get involved.  No They are overwhelmed as it is!

Hi khang Wink

There are some charities that specialize on individual issues like building schools or providing access to clean water. I don't think Kiva can (or should) compete with them, as this would require different kinds of connections and oversight - and hence add a new layer of expenses.

However, I think we may forgive you if you wish to occasionally donate to another charity for something like this - no guarantees though!  Laugh
