Hi,

I like the Kiva set up and note that the site is improving all the time. The one are that I have difficulty with is knowing which loans that have been fully paid, have actually been refunded to my account. Is there an easy way of reconcilling this?

Hi Ray,

What I do is make a note on a computer-type Post-It when the email comes in saying the final payment has been made, and then remove that name from the note when the email arrives saying that the amount has been credited.  At present, that works OK for the 5 or 6 per month I'm getting repaid, will have to see how it pans out in March & April when it will up in the 20's somewhere.

If there's an easier way of keeping track, I'm not aware of it...  I suppose another way of doing it would be to put some kind of label on an email notifying final payment, and then remove that label when the "redemption" email comes in.

cheers

Peter

Hi Peter,

Thanks for that. I didn't keep my email notifications to start with as I thought I would not need them. I will do as you do now. It would be easy for Kiva to add a column to show when each paid loan has been repaid.

Have you tried using the export that kiva now provide?  It might provide you with enough info, or you could try plugging it into one of the spreadsheets I have created - http://www.kivafriends.org/index.php/topic,1301.msg14133.html#msg14133

The spreadsheet can keep track of percentage repaid, you can sort or filter on payment days, number of months left of a loan etc.
Any problems or mods you think that would help you let me know.
The direct link to the files is - http://cjw.me.uk/kiva/spreadsheets/

Agreed, Ray. Thumbs Up I lose track of the repaid notices and forget about them.  Even though I try to save them in my Inbox, I seldom remember to check them later.  I might well have missed some repayments as I am very lazy about this. Embarrassed

I just received my first Kiva credit for an ended loan.

If I click

    My Portfolio->My Account->Transaction History

a transaction matching the redemption email shows up as

$25.00 Loan Repayment Jan 08, 2008 Redeemed Loan Repayment Despensa Angel (id=24297) $25

If you export the transactions to a spreadsheet, you can easily find the redemptions.

This loan from Paraguay was paid back early, so someone who has more repaid loans than I do might want to verify that credits for normally terminated loans are also classified as Redeemed.
