I am a brand new member and am anxious to make my first loan. I have a wonderful 8 year old grandson that has taken an interest in helping others. Is it possible to make my loan in his name. I'd like to have him help me choose a business and involve him as much as possible. Thanks for any input.

I'd suggest, would be to create a kiva.org account with his name (this would be seperate from yours).  Some things that he will then be able to do, is add to this account either with gifts from family or friends, money made from chores, or all kinds of ways.

At present there is no way to add a comment or note to a loan, (A feature we have requested many times) on KIVA.org.

Hope he enjoys KIVA and learning about the world through KIVA, because it's for sure an education!

Welcome!

I would suggest making your grandson the persona on the lender page:

1. Go to kiva.org and clic MY PORTFOLIO
2. Now, on the left, clic My Lender Page
3. Enter your godson's name as "Display Name" and upload a photo of him (a headshot is best).
4. Enter the rest of the info as his.  Don't forget to Save Changes.

He'll love it!

Welcome Summerfield to Kivafriends.  Henry's advice is excellent advice, which I too would suggest.

I just wanted to urge a little patience, Kiva was highlighted on The Today Show just today, so the website has bee swamped, and there were more than $2 million in gift certificates given out over the holidays, so the loans that are available are going faster than usual because of all the generosity!  It is all such a good thing, heartwarming actually, but can also be frustrating for a 'newbie', all that enthusiasm and no where to spend it!  So just know that they are continually adding new loans, just keep checking.

So welcome to the world of Kiva microlending, and welcome to KivaFriends.  Be careful though, can be addictive.  Just ask everyone here at Kivafriends!
