I agree with Colette too. I was thinking the same thing but didn't know how to put in words.

Another field partner, Opportunity International - Wedco Ltd., has just disbursed one of my loans in Kisumu, Kenya.

And an Action Now: Kenya loan I am participating on was disbursed overnight (and I know that AN:K sends a "shopper" with their clients to purchase the goods they are looking for with the loan funds, so this tells me there are still SOME parts of Kenya where commerce and at least some semblance of pre-riot life is continuing).

I would like to make a contribution directly to EbF, AN:K, PEMCI, and the other Kenyan MFIs which may be affected by this massive change in their workload and the clients they care for/care about.  Does anyone have a route for making such contributions?  I assume going through Kiva would be the right avenue: whom on the Kiva staff would be the right contact to ask about this, any ideas?

Diane,

excellent idea. I believe Chelsa or Ben might be the best to approach on this matter. I am not sure however that Kiva would be willing to assist. Maybe they can give you the bank data of the MFIs, so at least we'd know where to send the money.

The MFI has a web page at http://www.ebfkenya.org/index.php

Most interestingly, they are soliciting donations for a woman exactly like Kiva does!

Dottie,

There is a link to donate to the Eb-F on http://www.ebfkenya.org/supportebf.php#.

However, it doesn't seem to work.  This may be the most economical way to get money to them, though.  It may be overloaded or a user error...
