Hey Joe,

Does this forum sofware that you're using come with a Blog add-on module? I know some forum packages do. It would be cool if members could create blogs here like I've seen in other close-knit community forums...

Great idea, Sherri,

I'll be in Botswana starting late April and intend to blog...so it'd be cool if I could use the KF site for that!

Interesting idea. I don't know if there are any blog add-ons for this particular forum but I can check. If there isn't, I'm sure I can fiddle with the settings to create something blog-ish.

I've been administrating and moderating a pretty big forum for a few years.

Because we couldn't have a blogfunction, we had a part of the forum where people could open there own "diary"topics. It worked quite well. After a few years whe changed the forumsoftware, and we could add regular Blogs. But that wasn't a big success, people liked it much better the old, -have your own forumtopic- way.

So if Blogs aren't possible for this forum that might be a simple solution as well.

Coming back to this thread as my head turns more and more towards my time in Botswana: I'll be flying April 23.

Joe, have you had a chance to look into blog functions?

Tatiana: You mean simply having a locked topic-thread that only the blogger could post into? How would that work? I am curious...

Thanks
Oli

Oli, you're going to Botswana? How did I miss that? Is this for fun or do you have a mission?

Dottie, yes, seems like I keep mentioning it everywhere, so in fact I am relieved that there are some people that haven't noticed...must mean that I am not trumpeting it all that often than I thought... Wink

I'll be going for three months as part of my legal training. I will be working for the Botswana Centre for Human Rights - Ditshwanelo...that means I believe I will cause them more work than I will actually be able to do for them. But I sure hope I will be able to learn a lot about how human rights work is done in the field. It's a small local NGO with a great reputation and I feel fortunate for having been accepted there.

Oli,
That sounds like quite the trip. Please share your experience with us when you get back.

But isn't their legal system different from yours?
