....or at least, get some cash for a charity that provides the same!

DanaLi  got us started voting for Kiva and other charities at vote4cause dot org, a site where just clicking every thirty seconds can get the organization of your choice some good money, for their cause.  They have competition periods, and the charity with the most votes at the end of a given period gets some cash.

Right now Kivafriends is throwing it's clicking weight behind getting a little water for thirsty African kids.

This weekend we're trying to raise a little money for PlayPumps International, an organization that uses children's play to pump water up from wells and into storage tanks, so previously thirsty communities can enjoy the benefits of fresh water.  It's a merry-go-round on a well.

Ingenious -- and it works.

If you're surfing idly around this morning, or any time between now and late Sunday night, looking for something worthwhile to do, come on over to the vote4cause link and vote for PlayPumps International.

There's live chat there, so you can talk with your fellow voters.  There's a bunch of Kivafriends over there now.  It's a chat, click, chat - click kind of rhythm.

We have enough people here to put PPI over the top; we've led earlier this weekend, now we're #2.

So Kivafriends and guests, help raise a little money for a worthy cause -- come join us here:

Also important to note: PlayPumps actually trains and employs locals to build, install and maintain the pumps. Great charity Wink

It fits in beautifully with Kiva's (and KFs) goals, helping people to be self-sufficient, improving their lives.

FYI:  The /tmp file on the Vote4Cause.org server has filled up (from all the comments we've all been entering as we chat!), so the site will look broken until Marc gets notification and fixes it.  Clicking will still register votes, you just won't see comments and the other parts of the site meanwhile.

If you need to get to the right page, use this link:

Much less fun, without the chatting isn't it? The good thing is than the Farm Sanctuary supporters might not know they can still vote, and we can come closer Smiley.

This wikipediasite gives some more information:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roundabout_PlayPump

Roundabout Outdoor and PlayPumps International

Roundabout Outdoor is a company that manufactures, installs, and maintains PlayPump water systems throughout sub-Saharan Africa. PlayPumps International is a nonprofit that raises the funds to donate PlayPump water systems to African communities and schools. PlayPumps International is registered as a US 501(c)3 organization and as an independent South African non-government organization. Roundabout Outdoor collaborates with PlayPumps International to provide PlayPumps to communities and schools in need of clean drinking water.

Unfortunately, I think this outage has hurt us more -- we were set to get within 600 votes when it occurred, and since then we've just been holding at around 620-640 votes behind.

So hang in there and keep clicking  -- and please consider starting if you haven't already.

Under 500 votes behind and closing fast...

Today's goal should be to pass these other good folks as soon as we can and get a big lead....they surge back in a big way deep into the evening.  This two way contest is breaking all records on the vote 4 cause website.

So the more votes we can bank before dark --  both today, and tomorrow -- the better chance we have of prevailing.  We'll need a big, big lead during the day tomorrow to outlast them for the close tomorrow night.

Isn't this exciting??

I mean -- what else have you got to do today???

:-D
