Hello everyone,

I want to ask everyone for a simple suggestion to start an event on a college campus.  My Global Studies class were discussing about a campus-wide event for raising world poverty and helping microentrepreneurs all over the world.  We came up with KIVA, and trying to advertise the website and also collecting donations.  Does everyone know there are any legal issues we have to consider before we start advertising KIVA?
Please give us good suggestions, and feel free to respond to this topic.  Thank you very much.   Smiley

Most of your questions will need to be answered by KIVA.ORG and not here at KIVAFriends.org, they are seperate from each other.

You should contact KIVA.org from their support pages on their website.

To make the donations tax deductable you will need to set up an account with KIVA.org that can not be withdrawn from. Be sure and discuss that issue with KIVA when you get in touch with someone.

Good luck!  Keep us posted on how things go and what school it is, etc. etc.!

siberiantygur,

thanks for asking these questions and for the enthusiasm with which you want to promote KIva. That's a great idea!

Henry has answered a couple of your questions. Let me add just a few:

- KIva's logo can be downloaded at http://www.kiva.org/about/imagegallery/ , the use is free if for promotion and you don't need their approval to use it. Same goes for the photos of entrepreneurs on that page.

- If you do want to contact someone at Kiva, especially for the set up of the account Henry mentionned, you might want to approach liz (at) kiva (dot) org. She should be the right person to assist you in that.

Good luck
Oli

MODERATOR'S NOTE:  I modified Liz's email address above to avoid her becoming a spam target.

I know of a couple of different college/university initiatives (one being ours) and we're all striving to work together on this one - if you have questions I think I can either answer them, or get you to someone that has already faced and researched them (for Canada or the US). We're university students and recent grads using Kiva among other means to change the world...
