I think (not sure) it was a telephone call-in public vote - not the judges ....

Whatever...IMHO, they're wrong!
I see a lot of live performances, particularly those with Sir Andrew Lloyd's music. She's the most gifted amateur I've seen in many years!

What a beautiful voice! Maybe next time they should leave the judging to the judges! Jane

I went to the doctor, I went to the mountains, I looked to the children, I drank from the fountains.
There's more than one answer to these questions pointing me in a crooked line.
And the less I seek my source for some definitive, the closer I am to fine.

Live From Lincoln Center: The Silk Road Ensemble with Yo-Yo Ma I would urge anyone who can to take a look at this Live From Lincoln Center broadcast of The Silk Road Ensemble with Yo-Yo Ma on PBS.
http://www.pbs.org/livefromlincolncenter/ You may not be able to find it tonight on your local PBS station, but I believe some stations, at least, will be showing it on other dates.
It is a 90-minute program, and I thought it was fantastic.
As the notes say at the above link, the ensemble consists of about 60 players from 24 countries.
Also from the notes:
Education is a fundamental element in the activities of the Silk Road Project. In that regard it has established educational resources for elementary and middle school students. In 2005 a residency was set up at Harvard University (Yo-Yo Ma's alma mater) and the Rhode Island School of Design, which has brought members of the Ensemble to lead interactive projects with students and faculties of those institutions. In addition, museum residencies have brought Ensemble musicians to such esteemed locations as the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts; the Rietberg Museum in Zurich, Switzerland; the Nara National Museum in Nara, Japan; the Rubin Museum of Art in New York; and the Art Institute of Chicago. Here is more background on the Silk Road Project itself
http://www.silkroadproject.org/ There is more information there about the musicians and the instruments themselves, some of which I had never seen.
Here is more background and short reviews of recent concerts by the Silk Road Ensemble in New York City

Playing for Change Foundation was been formed to "directly help build, staff, equip and improve new and existing music schools in communities in need of hope and inspiration."
http://playingforchange.com - As we made our way around the world we encountered love, hate, rich and poor, black and white, and many different religious groups and ideologies. It became very clear that as a human race we need to transcend from the darkness to the light and music is our weapon of the future. This song around the world features musicians who have seen and overcome conflict and hatred with love and perseverance. We dont need more trouble, what we need is love. The spirit of Bob Marley always lives on.
This is the fourth Song Around The World video released from the CD/DVD Playing For Change: Songs Around The World and the follow up to the classics "Stand By Me," "One Love" and "Don't Worry." This unforgetable track was performed by musicians around the world adding their part to the song as it traveled the globe.

Justin Hines I first heard of Justin Hines on the Ontario tourism site, singing the commercial 'There's No Place', and immediately had to find out more about him... now I'm hooked. He has entertained fans from China to the Middle East and all across Canada.
"Possessed of an unflagging spirit that’s remarkable under any circumstances, Justin copes with a rare genetic joint condition called Larsen Syndrome that keeps him wheelchair bound. From a very early age, his creative mind was emanating poetry about universal love, the soul and other such global topics. His charitable works are so numerous it’s hard to even begin to list his performances at fundraising events that began at the age of 10. His love and concern for humanity, not just the disadvantaged gradually became his focus of attention."
If you'd like to see his short commercial, go to this site and at the bottom of the home page ("Watch the commercial"), click on his picture:

Joan Baez
