Hey charity,

good questions!

I joined in Feb 07 and made two loans...I remember the variety of loans was not that broad (some 30 or so), so I made loans, but they were not that special as others I was lucky to make later.

Interaction has definitely grown since I joined KivaFriends, which seems to me to have been different, too, in July/August 07. The enthusiasm about Oprah and Clinton witnessed here at KF, the projects established back then (calendar, Mark Agwonah Fund etc.) were done by a couple of people only and that certainly led to a very well knit network among these. With many new people on the site, it has become more diverse, topics everywhere, projects as well. I think it's great that with more people we can achieve more! But I do feel closer to the old dogs on this site... Embarrassed Although, on the other hand, I've met many very interesting people here since Sept, too, that have come close to me. I guess it's just that sentimental feeling for the olden days... Roll Eyes

Hey, Oli - "But I do feel closer to the old dogs on this site..." - I hope I'm included as an "old dog!"  Tongue Embarrassed
I made my first Kiva loan on Jan 29 2007, the day I first read about Kiva.  Joined Kiva Friends Apr 10, 2007, again, the day I first heard about it.

For me, this was a big deal, as I'm a computer illiterate  Wacko and didn't have a PayPal account, had no idea how to put a photo avatar in a profile, had never been in a chat room.... No No Thanks to Joe, Henry, and many others who helped me out, I'm here now, and more or less know how to do things (or at least what people to ask). Huh?

I've loved seeing Kiva and Kiva Friends grow, and still feel very close to some of the (old and young!) old-timers here.  On the other hand I've made new friends who have enriched my life, as membership has increased.  I do think Henry has a point about doing more of the goofy things we used to do, but I like the serious discussions too.  Thanks to all of you just for being here!  Give Rose

      Attention: All Old Dogs!

This is sort of like when that dreadful day comes that you get your AARP card in the mail.  It’s not all bad.  There, actually, are some advantages to being members of this esteemed club.

Turns out....

They have cookies for us.

They have a line of clothing for us.

Someone even wrote a book about one of us.

And there’s even an “Old Dog Haven”, where they’ll help us “bloom.”

EDIT:      Tried to link you to a YouTube song that all of us old woofers might want to sing together.  When I followed the usual protocol,
if you clicked on the pic, here, it said, "Sorry, the video is no longer available." I thought to myself, "The 'ell it isn't.  I just now
                  listened to it."
Turns out you have to go to YouTube, yourself, to gather around the piano and wax, nostalgically, with Aretha and
Billy.  Copy the URL immediately above, make sure you have a " http " at the beginning of it, paste, click, and then come sing along with.
