Partnering with Elementary Schools

Hello all, I'm new to the Kiva Friends website and I wanted to introduce myself and perhaps get some feedback.  My mother works for an elementary school that would like to create a partnership in which the kids conduct fundraising projects that raise money to be lent through Kiva.org.  We'd like to start on a small scale and eventually create a program through which all the schools in our district can participate.

Has anyone out there done this sort of thing, have suggestions, etc?  The reason I am involved is that I've worked with projects in the past that include supporting third world development and I would like to become familiar enough with Kiva's programs so that I can present to schools on behalf of Kiva and really get the ball rolling in terms of fundraising.

I'd appreciate any feedback anyone can offer.
