Hey all,
thank you so much for your support! It seems to have worked, I survived the first exam today (administrative law - permission to build a chapel)...should have been alright.
But more about Botswana and the reason for this blog:
I have yet to find a place to stay...believe it or not. It has been quite difficult finding something simply via the Internet. I am in another online group called "InterNations.org", hoped to find some people in Gaborone through this. But not a single person there...!! (If anyone is interested in joining this internationsgroup pm me. It is invitation only, seems to me like a nice rather new network.)
So, I contacted a German NGO that is the only political think tank from Germany working there: the
Friedrich Ebert Stiftung - FES. It is affiliated with Germany's large social democratic party (SPD). They maintain an office in Gaborone and I found out on their site that they have an apartment for their interns. I contacted them a while back and received an answer yesterday evening from one of the German interns currently in Gaborone. She wrote me that the apartment is actually filled to the last place, but that I could squeeze in for a few nights if I didn't find anything else.
Today, I received another email from FES staff telling me to contact someone from Germany's development agency (DED) that maintains a house in Gaborone where they rent rooms. I wrote the responsible person an email and hope she'll have good news. The staff at FES will also continue to look for a place for me. Isn't that awfully nice? I'm really grateful for their support, it makes things much easier.
Keep your fingers crossed that this works out!
On Saturday afternoon, I bought myself a transportation bag for my new backpack. The backpack is really cool and I will be able to get everything into it, but I needed something to protect it during the flight. In these huge outdoor stores, you really get everything.

All right so much for an update for now...will keep you all posted!
