I headed over there just now to contribute to this excellent cause, and it looks as though GiveMeaning.com is having a major face-lift requiring a 2 day shutdown.  At the moment the link goes straight to a maintenance page which says:

Maintenance Notice

Wednesday, April 23, 2008:
We are currently working on improvements to our site. We expect that these changes will be completed in the next 48 hours.

For further information please e-mail: support@givemeaning.com or contact us toll-free at 1.877.399.3632

Oh well, I'll try again on Friday.

I also noticed that the GiveMeaning site is under construction for 2 days...check the site again soon and the fundraising project will be up and running again! Smiley

Oops, forgot another thing I wanted to mention.  Thanks for posting the photos further back there, Naomi!  It's really nice to see yourself and the amazing Irene that I have seen mentioned often in these here parts.  Smiley

Drats, I seem to have spoken too soon.  It was up, but now it's not again. Sad

EDIT:  When I used my bookmark in IE, the site did come up on both tries.  Another time when I tried the link in Peter's post it didn't come up.  Maybe it's going to still be intermittent like that until tomorrow...

‘Morning! or Good Afternoon, Good Evening, etc. depending upon from where you might be reading this.

I just tracked over to Naomi’s Givemeaning ANK-fundraising site as I do every once in awhile to check on its progress.  I saw, this time,  with great happiness in the seeing, that the amount collected had increased since the last time I’d looked and now stands at $2,157.  We’re getting there.

I keep thinking about that anonymous donor, whomever that kind soul might be, and how they said that They Will Double Whatever Amount is Collected By Mother’s Day, May 11th.   With that promise in mind, we now are only $343 short of Naomi’s target goal, assuming that someone/s will contribute that amount, sometime in the next two plus weeks.  ($2, 157 + $343 =  $2500 times 2 = $5000.  Yes, I am a math whiz from way back, thanks for noticing!).

But even more fun, to me, is the thought that whatever dollars over that amount people would be willing to donate, especially if it’s before May 11th and so, which dollars would thus have twice the clout, that they will be like "gravy". I keep hoping that somehow, miraculously,  possibly even thousands and thousands more will be added before the 11th.    I’d see that as representing an even greater affirmation of our appreciation for the truly exceptional work that Action Now: Kenya has done for our entrepreneurs ** not to mention our deep and terrific hope that life go better for those wonderfully persevering people who serve as their clients.

** If you've followed the Mark Agwonah threads, you know that ANK staff members, possibly singularly, out of all the Field Partners, often accompany their clients to help them make their purchases, to accomplish their interim goals and that ANK is among the very most consistent and prolific in providing journal updates of their borrowers.
