I finally arranged for my daughter to initiate her first loan on Kiva. She didnt pay much mind to certain preferences such as where the person was from or gender, but apparently based it on the interest she felt in that individual person, and when she found it her eyes lit up. Whatever the reason, its the same feeling we all receive when we make those certain special loans that we cannot be compelled to look away from. It can be found below--since I told her Id announce it to all my KF pals and buddies that I know here. I wasnt sure if there was a topic devoted to young lenders, I should have asked you Jill before anything because if there was I would bet my marbles on the fact that you started it.  But if not, thought it would be nice to highlight any young Kiva lender under 18...whether lending jointly with parents or on their own. Simply include a link to their profile. (Not sure if its wise to post pics of minors--just felt funny to me even if they are publicly available through Kiva, but family pics are probably fair game). How inspiring it will be to hopefully see tens and hundreds of young lenders photos compiled together--a pleasure to browse through much like the best smiles thread. http://www.kiva.org/lender/syrenitee3359 |

Good timing on my part, Stevie. I just happened to stop by for a quick lurk when I saw you'd just posted.
Great idea for a thread. No, there isn't one already here as far as I know. How perfect that your doll baby Syrenitee is the first little "Kiva Lender kid of hope and promise" to be featured.
I'd actually, a few days ago, considered starting a thread just to feature the Lender Photos and/or Profiles of all the school and youth group lenders, probably for many of the same reasons that propelled you to start this one. All of us, but especially kids or the kids in all of us, like to be noticed, talked up, celebrated. If nothing else, threads like yours or a school/youth group thread would likely get the kids to keep wanting to return to the Forum to be able to see or show off their own pics and to see who else, like them, has been added since the last time they looked.
I'm pretty sure that many of us feel the same way about it being a good, smart and happy thing to do to celebrate whenever, wherever and whomever we can celebrate. Thanks, Buddy. No question but that this will add to the Forum's allure.
It's going to be very fun for all of us to watch our Resident Flower Child's already beautifully-spirited little flower as she continues on the compassionate and mindful journey her loving dad has set her onto taking.

Thank you Jane Also Jill, thats a great idea, Im sure no surprise to you or I that we think alike, surprised I beat you to it though, since you are probably the most innovative here when it comes to topic creativity and ideas. I think anyone who has or will have children, nieces, nephews involved in Kiva should consider posting here, if they feel the desire. It would be the perfect place. Including as Jill said classrooms, children volunteer groups or projects. Maybe eventually work it into a larger future section devoted to Kiva kids or Kiva in the classroom. Hope to see many more. |

Steve, WOW, thank you so much for sharing. This thread is a great idea, and I love Syrenitee's loan, picking a young nurse. Very nice. You can compliment her on that from me!  I'm looking forward to many more lender profiles from kids and youth! |
