I don't know if anyone has pointed this out already, but the banners don't work with Mozilla Firefox although they are fine with Internet Explorer.  A lot of the people who visit my website use Firefox so perhaps some thought could be given to amending the code.

Thanks

Hmm, that sounds strange.  I use Firefox exclusively and don't have an issue seeing Kiva banners.  Perhaps the trouble has to do with some sort of Adblock plugin?

You are, of course, completely right, I disabled adblock and it now shows up nicely.

Thanks  Thumbs Up

I use firefox with adblock and I can see the banners fine. You can go into your adblock settings, and either whitelist the kiva site, or remove the filter that is blocking the banners. Maybe you have something like:   /banners/* in there?

I love adblock. Love. It.   Cheesy

Since you were all so upto the mark with Adblock (which I have now ordered to admit the KIVA banner ad) I have a friend who cannot get the banner to show on her LiveJournal Account - it's one of the free ones if that makes a difference.

Does anyone have any ideas?

THanks

I assume live journal is a blogging site? Most sites that accept user-typed content, will strip out any html or javascript (website programming language) code that you try to put in there. It is most likely that LiveJournal does not allow that type of thing to be inserted into pages/posts. Though she may have to check with LiveJournal to be sure.

Hi !

(My first post in here. I'm french, so don't blame me too much for bad english)

As Sherri said : "Maybe you have something like:   /banners/* in there?"

Modifying Adblock filters isn't a good solution, as it surely will allow the Kiva banners to be displayed, but you can't ask your visitors to do it individually.
As many of you, I really enjoy Adblock, and the G.Updater extension that automatically manage the Adblock filters. That's where the /banner/* filter came from.

Thus, I think there is a simple solution that will permit the Kiva banners to be displayed without any client intervention :
change the banners deposit url from
http://www.kiva.org/banners/bannerBlock.php
to something like
http://www.kiva.org/spread/SpreadBlock.php

Only drawback is : the webmasters that already use Kiva banners will be forced to change their paths, which I think is a minor pain regarding the great benefits it allows.

...
