This discussion forum was set up to discuss all things about Kiva.org, including microfinancing and fundraising. Don't know what Kiva is? [gasp] Where have you been?! See the New to Kiva? thread for info, or just visit kiva.org

If you haven't registered yet, please do! Registration is quick and pretty hassle-free in terms of how much info you have to enter. Once you've registered, there are a lot more options you can add into your profile. Click the profile link above and update what info you want to display (it's all optional, by the way). You can add things like links to your Kiva.org lender page, personal web site, additional contact info, etc.

There aren't many rules here. I trust that everyone is mature enough to discuss our mutual interest and participation in the Kiva organization without going over the edge. Talk to others with the courtesy and respect you'd expect in return and we'll all be fine.

Mobile users. This site is mobile phone compatible! Punch in the URL on your cellphone or mobile device and you'll get a mobile friendly version where you can read messages and access your account.

I just want to thank you for setting this up, Joe.  The missing piece so far has been a place to just hang out and get to know other Kiva lenders.  The Yahoo! Groups has a certain formality about it, and a "lounge" where we can just drop by and talk with other Kivites would be great.  I hope the kivafriends online culture develops in that direction.  You have done a real service in creating this.  Thanks again!

Joe, great job, but no RSS feed? We want to put the site in a blogroll. Probably just the "news" section or a special section managed by someone (or by all) to ensure that only compelling stuff gets in the feed (rather than all our chirpings to each other).

Done The main RSS feed is a mix of all forums (look for the orange feed icon next the URL if using FireFox or on the toolbar if using IE7+). Edit: A link for the main feed is now on the menu bar above as well. Feeds from individual forums are also available, and those feed icons are next to the board links.

I'll see if optimizing/limiting feeds to certain posts can be done as well.

On a related note, this forum also has the ability to pull feeds from other sites and post their stories as new threads. Those posts would show up under the "RSSbot" member name. Sadly it doesn't work with ATOM (yet), which most of the Kiva blogs on Blogger have. There is also an issue with some HTML tags not showing up correctly. Hopefully that can be worked out down the line.
