Hi, I have been a lender for several months now, but this is my first post.  I have an idea to help spread the word about Kiva.  It grew out of a question at a trivia game where we were asked what college sweatshirt a character on a TV show wore.  It made me think that if even one character on a popular TV show (or any TV show) wore a Kiva shirt or drank from a Kiva mug, it would be great publicity.  Maybe this idea has been suggested or is too far-fetched, but I thought someone out there might know someone in the TV (or movie) industry who could make this happen.  Thanks Kiva, for brightening my life by letting me be a part of such a good thing.

Any actor/lenders out there, willing to help? Anyone working in "props" with a TV studio?

I linked to Oprah and found the list of her causes and Kiva IS NOT THERE - sigh...

Welcome Lynn - great idea - I'd wear the t-shirt - if I had one - even tho no-one knows me  Cry

Wow, a "Kiva Stars" list.  Thanks Richard and to Lorna too for the call for props people.  Jan, I wear my "Wanna' Help Buy a Goat?" shirt and get lots of inquiries about Kiva from total strangers.

Maroon 5 is on the list and was on that American Idol show a few nights back--anyone ever hear of that?   Wink  Anyways, imagine giving millions of viewers immediate access and awareness to Kiva with a Kiva sticker on the guitar or the singer wearing a Kiva shirt.

Also I work all over my county 5 days a week and come into contact with hundreds of people daily, if not thousands during a given week--our attire must be presentable so I cant wear the Kiva t-shirts, but it would be nice to slap a decent sized Kiva logo on my back somewhere--Id receive inquiries all the time if that were the case.

I find not direction in the readings of those with whom my eccentricities are similar, but rather validation.

My only solace is that I find a peaceful place where I might be resigned to my depriving loneliness.

Get me a shirt to Botswana and I will wear it constantly...chances are high I'll make it to national telly... Laugh Laugh Laugh

See:

A funny intermission was when Marcella told me she had seen me on the news on Thursday evening at the May Day march. Turns out they used footage of me and Mma Catherine, our housekeeper, at the rally. Ha, that makes it the third time I appeared on national TV already!  Grin Cheesy Huh? Roll Eyes Mma Catherine and I had a good laugh about us being TV stars.

On a serious note: I think that is a great idea. I would suggest approaching someone at a rather "young" station: MTV or something like that. They're announcers might be much more willing to wear a Kiva shirt than the traditional TV-show hosts...

Thanx, Lynn - just when I decided to rein in my impulse lending - now you've got me impulse shopping Smiley
I expect our t-shirts (and mugs and shopping bag) to arrive around the end of the month (unless Canada Customs decides otherwise)...

Jan,  so glad to lead you astray for such a good purpose.  I just wish I could deduct my T-shirts, bag, my husband's cap and golf shirt, etc. for tax purposes here in the US under charitable giving (advertising), but I don't think that one would fly.  Enjoy your new stuff--hope you get lots of inquiries about Kiva!
