I opened a Paypal account when I started and only gave them a Mastercard number.  I used it with no problems and then one day, quite a while ago I was told by PayPal that I couldn't use it again until I 'verified' a bank account with them.

I dithered over it for a while but I finally gave them a bank account number - one I don't really use much - they made two deposits totalling something like 34 cents to 'verify' it was a valid account.  I figure that one day I might need some retirement cash and I will be able to withdraw - and you need a bank account registered to do that.

I click 'change' on the PayPal page and still use the same credit card but I have had no problems nor any contact with them since.

I'm not saying this is right, just that I have personally had no issues.

edit - lol - I just scrolled back and see I posted pretty much the same info last March Smiley
d'oh, sorry.

Memory problems?  Laugh

Just kidding  Grin .

I'm just a little bit anti-paypal.

In the Netherlands we have other paying systems for paying on the internet. For the US people: we all have online access to our bank accounts; all Dutch banks have this as a service. All you need are internet access, a password and a list with codes OR a little device that will create a code for you. Then you can see the money you currently have; all your recent transactions, AND you can transfer money to the bank accounts of other people or of businesses.
If you are surfing online and see something nice in a Dutch webshop; then there is the thing called "ideal". This is a way of paying online. The program takes you to your login-screen of your bank, and you log in to your bank, affirm that you want to pay to that webshop; and voila, that's it.

The good thing? It goes directly from your bank account; so if you have credit there, there's not interest charged (as with a creditcard). It feels very safe. And for me; it also means that I can't spend too much, as I could easily do with my credit card because you delay the real payment.

Best wishes,
Petra

Maybe, indeed, I had too many (small) transactions in too short a time. I've tried to use paypal and the same creditcard with another site, and it doesn't work either.
So I have to wait patiently (?) until I'm accepted back in? That's my strategy for now; I'll keep you posted.

Best wishes,
Petra

My credit card limits me to twelve charges a day. The amount doesn't matter. If I go over that, I get a message from the vendor and I have to call my credit union and request a waiver, which they always grant. It's a security thing.

Now I'm getting messages from Paypal telling me I'm approaching my $10K limit and will have to get verified. I haven't tried using a different credit card yet, to see if that makes a difference. I doubt that it will. But no way will I let them dip directly into my checking account. I'll just stop shopping on eBay. Should do that anyway!
