Hi there, I recently joined Kiva and sent out a number of invites to friends to do likewise (I'm pleased to say I have had a lot of interest back).

However I somehow managed to invite myself - I still have no idea how this happened - and as well as invite myself I accepted my own invitation.

Now my Number of Successful Invitations' and 'Number of Loans Made by My Invitees' sections just mirror exacly what I do as well as adding on movements by my invitees.

Although not a crisis by any means I'm sure you can imagine it is incredibly frustrating, I have e-mailed Kiva but had no response yet, I was wondering whether anyone had any ideas as to how I can get rid of 'myself' as my friend?

Any help is much appreciated.

Hi Paul and welcome!  This is the first time someone has mentioned this situation, that's for sure!

The "invitations" thing is pretty new and many of us aren't terribly fond of it, and I haven't seen any expertise from tinkerers about how to change things about it.  I think all you can do is wait for Kiva's response.  It will look funny for a few days but as you say, it doesn't really harm anything.

And welcome to Kiva Friends, and to Kiva lending!   Welcome

Hi, Paul, and welcome! Welcome

I haven't quite had the same thing happen to me, but one of my "invites" who used a gift certificate ended up being listed as the person who invited me (probably because I checked up to see if she had used the certificate I sent).  No big deal.  Cool Also, Kiva can't possibly keep up with the way these recommendations really play out.  My biggest "success" will never be recorded.  It was a word of mouth recommendation.  My friend took me up on it and gave a gift to the grandchildren of his lady friend.  She, in turn, used his generous gift in a special way - she had the grandchildrens' teachers make the money be turned into class projects, so that many children learned about Kiva and how it helps people around the world.

Does it matter? Thinking Not at all! I'm delighted that my recommendation had such a positive effect, and care not a hoot who does or doesn't get the credit for it.

Again, welcome, and keep on posting!  Cheers, Glenda
