Hello Everyone,

Please be Kind I am only new here  Smiley

I saw this fantastic organisation on the Oprah show today in Australia and loved the concept. When they were featuring the show they mentioned that we were able to send messages to the loan recipent, However I cannot find this option anywhere. I would just like to send our best wishes, but cannot figure out how. I cannot find email addresses anywhere not even for kiva itself.

Any Ideas?

Hi Lisa,

and welcome to Kiva as well as Kivafriends. I think you have found the right place! Smiley

The only way to maybe communicate with the borrower is through the comments on the borrower page. Once a journal update has been posted (normally the disbursal notice), you can leave a comment if you are logged into your account. It has happened several times that the borrowers respond to the comment directly, but that has been rare. It seems it depends on the credit bank they are with and whether they are shown the comments or not. Unfortunately this is all we can get so far...I think Kiva should market that more properly. Like I said, there have been only few cases reported where the borrower responded... Huh?

Please keep posting any questions you might have...good to have you around.

Oli

PS: Was this kind enough?  Wink

Lisa,

Welcome.  I will be gentle.

The loan must become active before you can post messages.  The stages are fundraising, raised (all money is gathered), and then active (which means the partner has disbursed the loan money to the borrower).  Once the loan is active, then pull up the loan.  Scroll down toward the bottom of the page.  You should see in blue letters, "comments".  click on comments.  A new screen will appear allowing you to type to your heart's content!

Oli beat me to posting by seconds.  So you can see if you can make sense out of one of us.  Beware!  Oli is a huge flirt, and very popular with us women.

Thankyou to Both of you..

Yes you were both very Kind  Smiley I guess I have been a member of too many nasty forums  Sad

Im glad to say I have a good feeling about this one..

Thanks for explaining the process to me.. I am happy to know that I can leave a message once the loan is active, it would be nice to know that they were given a print of the comments at each repayment they made However I understand how difficult it would be to manage this with very limited resources.

Thanks again, I really love this place, what a great way to spend my spare cash  Thumbs Up

Welcome! Welcome

It never occured to me to send my borrowers a message.  That's a neat idea.  Most of mine so far, I don't really have anything  I want to say, but I could totally see wanting to send a little note of encouragement, etc.  at some point.  Some of my borrowers even speak English, so it wouldn't even need translated.

Hi lisaky73 - here's a big  Hat Wave Canadian welcome to you...

and maybe you others can answer my question...

I have been sending a message each time a loan is disbursed - mostly just a hello and wishing success type of thing...

Does anyone know if I will be notified if there is a return comment or do I have to look on each loan periodically - that could become time-consuming as my portfolio is growing more quickly than originally planned (thanx to the encouragement of many posters here - I may just HAVE TO mortgage the house Smiley

You will not be notified if a comment is added to a Journal entry of a loan you participate in, or that you have posted to.  You are only notified when there is a new Journal entry posted.
