Hi,
I'm a high school student at Northwood High School, Irvine CA, and I am interesting in starting a club to raise money for giving loans on Kiva. We are interested in registering as a group lender, as I have seen that other high school are similarly registered on KivaPedia. How do I go about doing this and who can I contact?

Hello,

I love that you are getting involved in Kiva.

Being a group on KivaFriends is a Kivapedia update.  It is simple to do, if one knows how.  Or so Queen tells me.  I would recommend coming up with a plan to raise money first.  Then you would make a loan in the group's name on Kiva, and then someone will help you get added to the groups on kivafriends.  The loan is to show that you are involved as a group.  Getting with KivaFriends can be added at any time after the loan is made showing your organization, so that isn't a bottleneck.  Someone will probably post  a good answer or you can come in chat, and see if someone can give better directions.

Good luck, and happy loaning!

Colette

Hi and welcome rahuljesse....colette is correct.....Kivapedia is a wiki and so anyone registered can make changes and/or additions.  I do often add groups to that section of Kivapedia so once you have your lender page up and running, drop me a PM with the link and I will make sure it gets on there.

As to group loaning, colette is again correct....all you need is your first $25and an email address and you are in business.  That is what you need to set up your account on Kiva.  For a student group you may need help from a parent with the Pay Pal part of it unless you have your own credit card to use.  And I would suggest you check with your parents anyway (oh do I sound like a MOM or what?)  You can control who has access to your account, passwords and such.  We have a shopping club here on Kiva Friends and several of us have the passwords so that spreads out the loaning responsibilities especially when ONE of us is on vacation.

And by all means use ALL the information here on Kiva Friends to your advantage.  We are a community that will help and encourage you in any way that we can.
