Hey at least it gives us something else to talk about here, be the new layout for the better or worse.

Without seeing the new home page, I think this is an excellent decision by Kiva. The current home page is very basic which is okay - it's a basic message they've been trying to get out, but it could be much more dynamic. The site, technically speaking, is a work of art - what an amazing platform they've developed. While I'm not in favor of an over-marketing type of revamp of the home page, I could see it being a little more fun, inviting, capturing.. those are some of the words that come to mind.

Waiting anxiously to see the new home page...

I dont mind the homepage, though I have never considered improvements.  Now that a change is coming I am beginning to think about what it could look like with a bit of re-working.  As long as it doesnt turn out any worse, Im all for it.  Even if its not improved much, its still nice for long time members to be greeted by a refreshing and updated look.

Grin I didn't even know there were more entrpreneurs further down the page...

If what I am looking for is not on the first screen I see, I will tend to skip somewhere else - but the main links for Kiva are right there and quite user friendly.

Never mind, Kiva totally fixed the home page! I think it looks great! It is all above the fold and they've definitely opted for a very simple web page layout, technically speaking (a la google, so to speak). I think they've made the right choice. It totally works. I can see a bunch of new potential loans easily and, since I like to read about Lenders, I can see the featured lender easily too! Congrats, Kiva, on a nice soft touch to the home page redo.

I love the bigger pictures... they look so temptingly inviting this way. Smiley

Hat Wave  Great job Kiva - love everything except that first photo - too bad it has that glare - they are in the same order as the popularity sort on the lend page - so I guess it's up to us to change the most popular to one we like better ? Smiley  Certainly easy to shop  Thumbs Up

edit: didn't take long to change the photos... I think I like this... and my log-in is sticking around longer now when I jump from place to place... wheeee - jan

It looks an interesting change, I thought the homepage had been looking a bit odd recently with so much white space between the top and bottom of the page - and I hope this change works better.

Shame it does not work for me in Firefox  Pissy clicking on the small image for a new featured lender does nothing (other than tell Kiva that I have clicked it via their click/heat map).  However much I love Kiva I am afraid I am not converting back to IE.

that's strange Christopher - it works OK for me in Firefox (2.0.0.14)*. When I click on one of the small faint images in the strip below, it puts that image in the larger space above, where the Featured Entrepreneur is.  Must be something to do with the different ways we have Firefox configured.
