Twitter is a popular micro-blogging service. In fact its how I first learned about kiva.

I used to spend money on dealnews.com, but now I spend money on kiva.

dealnews now has a twitter feed. Perhaps kiva could have one too, to periodically release news and new loan opportunities. See for example: http://twitter.com/dealnews

For example, http://www.demo.com/conferences/demo2008fall/welcome.html
They let you Stay Connected through all 4 of these:
# Facebook Page
# LinkedIn Group
# Follow us on Twitter
# Blog RSS Feed

Perhaps kiva could set up similar channels of communication.

Here are some Kiva-related twitterers (tweeters? tweeple?):

KivaCS (Kiva Customer Service)
KivaB4B
P_2_P (auto-tweets major Kiva Blog updates)

Other personal favorites of mine:
T_w_i_t_ (especially this morning)
celebdeathbeep (auto-tweets celebrity passings e.g. Paul Newman recently)
sfearthquakes (Bay Area Earthquakes)

Just type: "Follow Username" (without the quotes) in your status box to begin following any of these.

Twitter sure provided some good laughs this morning!

but Scott - the original Kiva application is still not working on Facebook.  Obviously Kiva (Liz?) has linked up with Facebook to fix the loan feed problem so that now your new loans once again post on the newsfeed which is a huge plus for advertising...
however...
the old Kiva app that showed all the businesses that you supported is still not functioning.  I think that is not a Kiva or Facebook issue - it is a problem with whoever created the application - and obviously my message did not get passed on - or that person does not wish to continue - who knows.  Too bad - I liked seeing that list on Facebook.

The 'I Lend Because...' application is working but appears to have been developed by a different team? and possibly an actual team at Kiva because the RSS feed shows currently funding loans and is kept current with banners and ads.

jan

ps - Scott - about that other issue - you really need to just ignore and put it to bed - IMHO Smiley

Ah, you're right. I tried refreshing mine and it came up with four additional loans, but it still only shows half my loans. If I had to choose, I'm just glad the posting of new loans is working to my profile page.

Thanks,

-Scott

p.s. And you give good advice which I will try hard to follow.

Well then you're doing better than me because I can't even get to the application - I just get the error message

Quote
Error while loading page from Kiva

There are still a few kinks Facebook and the makers of Kiva are trying to iron out. We appreciate your patience as we try to fix these issues. Your problem has been logged - if it persists, please come back in a few days. Thanks!

and the blue Kiva takes me to the Kiva application which tells me 'you are already using Kiva'

Ah ha. Thought you'd get away with it, didn't you Kiva Twitterers?
You've been found out.

Read the quote in paragraph six. See, there you all are, just
a' doin' yer fomentin' and yer rousin' up the rabble and, um, eatin'
yer tofu and carrot loaf.

You'd better watch out. You'd better not cry.
