What is the SPCA-Kiva connection?

Go to the thread "Promoting a Worthwhile Entrepeneur" for details.

Simply put - you give to the SPCA and I give to Kiva.

I have 1 participant already and have money set aside to match 7 more.

This thread will detail the progress of this idea and acknowledge all those who participate.

Though I choose to take life not too seriously (most of the time) I make sure I do not lose sight of the fact that many people are not as fortunate as I am.  I cannot ignore them for to do so, would be morally wrong.

Thanks to saabnet (Scott) who was the first to participate.  The loan I made on his behalf was

Since it is not strictly SPCA, I will not try to get around your
rules, Moonfish (your football = your rules), but you *have* inspired
me to make a donation to my local animal shelter. Times are hard hard
hard for people and their pets in our very poor county of
Downeast Maine these days.

There were long articles in our paper on two consecutive
days this week, telling about the astronomical rise in the number of
people bringing in their pets because they can no longer
afford to care for them. The shelters are all full to overflowing --
all over the U.S. -- and donations to maintain the shelters
are way way down. (Do not let me get started about W, Eli.)

So thank you for reminding me to do this. Good folks,
you Haligonians (I love typing that word). Kinda mushy,
I hear, but good folks nonetheless.

Thumbs Up This should qualify, too, though, don't you think, Moonfish?

Hi Ann:

I consider that you will be the 2nd participant.  Just confirm your donation and tell me what type of loan you'd like me to make  Grin

The reason I am trying this idea about the SPCA is because the SPCA is a wonderful organization.

Already have one participant and one expected to participate shortly.

We got our dog Ben from there and how could an animal lover who also supports Kiva not like this idea.  15 bucks from you helps the animals and indirectly helps Kiva due to the loan which I will give due to your participation  Smiley

In an effort to make tonight's crowd aware of a chance to have a loan of their choice at 60% of the cost (on a $25 loan):

I have set aside $200 (8 Kiva Loans).  For the first 8 Kiva friends who make a charitable donation of $15 or more to the SPCA - I will make a $25 loan to Kiva.  Not only that - but you get to instruct me on what type loan I should make in return for your SPCA donation(example - Africa only, no butcher shops, must be Peru, etc). You set the criteria - not me !!!

Note - I will be getting credit for the loan as it will be under my profile - you get credit from the SPCA and the Tax Dept

In order to take advantage of this, you would first make your donation and then e-mail me a copy of the SPCA receipt. Give me instructions and presto, shortly after, it will be done. Those who particapte will be acknowledged on Kivafriends.org unless they indicate that prefer not to be.

This offer is to the first 8 Kiva lenders who participate and this offer expires on July 31, 2008.

Thanks

Moonfish
