Well it seems that I will go ahead with the newstand after all  Smiley

Much here at Kiva Friends is either technical stuff or serious in nature.  And that certianly is fine - World Poverty is serious and Kiva is a most necessary organization in today's world.

The role I have allocated to myself here is to  "lighten-up" this site.  It is not meant to take away from the seriousness of world poverty by any means.  For me, personally and without going into a long story, the last 2 years have been somewhat difficult.  Now, I choose not to take my own life too seriously but at the same time, I choose to help others where I can.

Right now, I could be sitting in a jail cell for standing up for something I believed in (charges were dismissed anyway).  I am so grateful to be in the situation that I am in - no financial worries, a great wife and friend (no, not the wife - my dog) and I'm in reasonably good health but lousey shape  Embarrassed

I've seen real poverty first hand and feel as well as know that I should do something about it.  Too many people in society (and here I mean those who have the financial means) don't even look sideways to see that other people are in need.  None of us do as much as we can but at least some of us are doing something.  That is why I am a part of Kiva.

I shall continue to be who I am (for I can be no one else).  Those that don't like me need not bother with me.  I'm sure I will get by.  Those who feel that I bring something to Kiva Fiends - Thank You.

Other than replying to other threads, most of what I wish to say or do, I will orginate here.  Mostly that will be challenges, some discussions and maybe just off-the-wall things. But I will not forget the main purpose for Kiva and that Kiva itself is the main reason why we are here in he first place (Move over Obama - I got you beat  Laugh )

So, Moonfish is staying  Cool

PS - The SPCA-Kiva Connection still exists as does Moonfish Birthday Shopping Challenge.  Most (if not all) my other threads and polls have been deleted.

Though I choose to take life not too seriously (most of the time) I make sure I do not lose sight of the fact that many people are not as fortunate as I am.  I cannot ignore them for to do so, would be morally wrong.

OK, I think it's obvious by now, but I am really happy that that is your decision.

Take care, I am looking forward for the first issue of the chronicles!

4:03 AM to be precise... and yes, quite a lot actually (more than you in any case) - but at strange hours.

I have a strange feel like I have missed out on something but here goes anyway; what is the reason you choose to make a subculture within Kiva Friends?  Instead of actively sharing common ground I see a proclamation of your very own speakers corner and a "boycot" to the rest . . .

And I second that opinion.  Moonfish, your heart is in the right place.  I welcome your light-hearted posts and insight with your future Chronicles.

One thing that I would like to see posted somewhere along the way in your Chronicles is how much was donated overall through your SPCA challenge, and what an impact just one challenge like that had to not just the animals in the shelters, but to the loans in which you funded 'round the world.

Okay, and I must admit, I am behind on my threads, and I haven't read your birthday challenge yet.   Cry  I'll get there eventually!   Thumbs Up

No, that is not the case at all.  Someone suggested that she was finding that navigating the threads she was interested in was confusing - and that some authors (me included) had started too many threads.

So, in the spirit of making things easier for everyone, I started my own "newspaper" for those interested in anything that I might do.  And, let it not be thought that I intend to boycott other threads, au contraire my friend, I will indeed particpate in others threads that interests me.

Hope that helps to explain things  Smiley

I think thisnis the right time to inform you of a simple fact that a few other Kv's know - that my payday is the 15.th  Cool and there is only one 15.th per month, at least for me  Huh?
