I think thisnis the right time to inform you of a simple fact that a few other Kv's know - that my payday is the 15.th  Cool and there is only one 15.th per month, at least for me  Huh?

OK - forget the 50 loans - I forgive you  Grin

Issue Number One comes out today  Thumbs Up

The Moonfish Chronicle is taking its Maiden Voyage.  Keep a copy as 1st issues always become valuable (look at the Superman Comics)  Grin

(and especially since the Topic Title has an error in it - oh, well, such is life  Laugh  consider it the newspaper's trademark  Laugh )

Albeit a short issue, I hope you enjoy it nonetheless. So, without further ado, may I present Issue # 1  Cool

---------------------------

First Page - my biggest problem in life is trying to figure out :

If who’s on first, then who’s on second and who’s on third - is who everywhere - who know

And what really is on the road ….. a head

Why do I park in my driveway and drive on parkways

If a tree falls in the woods and no one is there, does it make a sound - does anyone really care

Why do we KF’s reach out to other countries when there is poverty within our own (I think I have the answer for that one)

And, if I only have a dime in my pocket - does that mean I have no sense at all

-------------------------------

Page Two

Helping others when the system is not helping you:

If any of you have mutual funds, you know what I am talking about.  The TSE (Toronto Stock Exchange) has dropped from over 15,000 to about 13,600 (as of yesterday).  I have some which are registered (tax-breakers) and others that are non-registered. Lately I have been pulling some out to get my credit cards in credit status, pay my lawyer, pay for the cruise I am going on in December and have been funding Kiva Loans.  I find that I have over-funded for my budget but feel ok with it, knowing that I have a 98% chance or so of getting my money back anyway. I think of it as having parked my money until the stock markets swing upward again.  That is not to say I will pull all my Kiva money back out.  I do intend to re-loan as well but need to get it in a controlled status.  Someone has offered me $500 to use in Kiva so long as I do not ever pull it back out - and that certainly is fine with me.  That should come in about 4 weeks

----------------------------------

Page Three

I have 2 challenges going at the moment:

My Birthday Shopping Challenger (elsewhere at KF) - it’s still not too late to enter.  The prize - one loan made on behalf of the winner. Details are at message #1 in that thread.

The SPCA-Kiva Connection has had 2 takers already.  Thank You Scott and Eli  Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
Deadline is end of this month (that’s July in case you don’t know)
I will give results after it has finished

-----------------------

Page Four

There is no page four - how can that be  Laugh Huh? Laugh Huh? Laugh

Sadly, I cannot fund the following entrepreneur as I am trying to reserve most of my credits for my 2 on-going challenges.  However, if someone wants to celebrate the 1st issue of these chronicles by funding her, please feel free to do so.  I would be honored  Smiley

(note - the MFI is 3 star)

Oh, What the heck - I did fund her anyway - that does not mean you can't as well  Grin

I've noticed that a lot of people funded my baker after I posted the posting just before this one.  And I see that at least 10 guest read that post.  Does this mean that I may have been at least somewhat influential in getting her funded so quickly  Huh?

God, I hope so and don't anyone burst my bubble   Wink

Good job Moonfish!!  Thumbs Up
That funding was fast!!  I noticed this loan this morning when I was trying to spend my 2 Kiva credits.  (2 does not divide by 20 very well.)  I think also the MFI did a "bang-up" job with the picture and it made one want to run right over and buy that bread!!
All the best,
Jane

Yes, it does show that a good write-up coupled with a good photo makes a whole world of differnce.  More than I can say for Thon in Cambodia which is sad because some of us (me included) will not fund him  Huh?

Can I ask why you will not fund Thon in Cambodia?  I hope it is not because of a lack on the part of the MFI.  That is like punishing a child for the "sins of the father."  Jane

I cannot in good conscious support someone who seems to be living the life of Riley with a drink in his hand while his wife "slaves" in a garment factory.  The photo, for sure, was not well thought out by someone, whoever, really messed-up, I my opinion (looks like liquor bottles in bottom right corner - what was in his drink?)

Anyway, there are lots of other lenders and no doubt he will get funded, though much slower then he could have  Huh?

Jane,

I tend to disagree - it's not punishing but rather "not rewarding" the child whose merits we cannot correctly judge because of the "sins" of the father.

This happens all the time (and if only because we [individually] cannot reward everyone as Moonfish already pointed out), and in this particular case it might also help educating the father to better watch out for his children in future. And if he is a good father he will apologize to his child and reward her from his own pocket - to keep the metaphor. Anyway, the loan will receive funding in the end, I bet.

Best wishes,
Wolfgang.

Uh MoonFish,
I won't burst your bubble but I think I'm gonna have to rain on your parade (a little).
As we can all see there are no other KFers on the loan to Daisy & I realize your contention some of the guests might have run over & funded her after seeing your wonderful post.
She was one of the first loans I noticed this morning  because I also like to support bakers & bakeries.
But I did notice she was funding rather quickly so I felt I would look elsewhere to loan, like to Jane's two entrepreneurs in Cambodia, Mrs. Teab San & a very pregnant Mrs. Kat Thon.
Hope you understand.
Thanks,
Geoff
