Never before have I experienced so much hate and anger, since I started hanging out with philanthropists  Pissy

Wow. This is called hate? Come on people, are we 12 years old? I thought - well, it's perfectly clear what I thought. I suspect Moonfish is a generous and interesting character in real life. On KF, I thought he was coming across like a highly egotistical person who enjoyed the sound of his own voice. If I had come across this thread on my first day on KF, I wouldn't have come back. Frankly, that's not that big a deal, except that I happen to believe in Kiva quite a bit, and KF provides an excellent forum for discussion of pertinent issues.

I apologize if I created some sort of bad vibe. Look, this is the internet, where communication is in writing, and a certain amount of critique, sarcasm, etc. are to be expected, in my experience. I mean, I didn't even post any bad words, or porn, or anything violent, or particularly strong or disrespectful. If I say something dumb, I expect to be called on it, just like my friends would call me on it. It looks like just about everyone on KF has donated (ok, 'lent', but who are we kidding) hundreds to several thousands of dollars to less fortunate individuals, so I respect you all already for your selflessness. But just because we care about trying to eliminate poverty doesn't mean we need to be lame-os, or go crying or have a hissy fit just because somebody said something we don't like.

In the world today, the horn of Africa is suffering extreme drought and looming famine; Zimbabwe is entering a very experimental power-sharing agreement that includes a corrupt megalomaniac madman, with inflation at over a million percent; a Bosnian Serb strongman accused of genocide was caught after 13 years on the run; and in Greece, Lesbians the world over are still allowed to name their preference after a certain island (http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20080722.wlesbos0722/BNStory/International/home). I reckon we can get over this.

Moonfish, do what you need to do; don't let me stop you.

Agreed Greek. I saw no hate either.

You're okay, Mr. G. I agree with what Scott agrees with.

Hello

Not so sure about your first comment but Moonfish got hit by an 18 wheeler the other day and is no more  Huh?

I agree with your comment(s) on what is going on in the world today.  It's a mess - to say the least.  We can't change things solely by ourselves (neither individually or en masse).  I guess all we can do, is each of us contribute in whatever way we can and hope things get better.  Quite frankly, I don't subscribe to a sci-fi image where mankind finally reaches an Utopian Peace among it's inhabitants - I think greed and the need for power will always exist among some but that doesn't mean we should not strive for it  Smiley

Alas, I enjoyed Moonfish's hijinks.  It seems clear to me that anyone who is annoyed by any thread can very easily just stay out of that thread.  I'm not sure why anyone would want to harass someone for what they post.  It sounds to me as though this could be a continuation of a feud that started elsewhere.  If that's the case, then Moonfish acted well by leaving, to avoid bringing that ugliness here, and those who berated him are the ones who are out of line.

I'm not an administrator of this forum, but if I were I would invite Moonfish back and ban those who troll.  Just my 2 cents worth.

Alas, I enjoyed Moonfish's hijinks.  It seems clear to me that anyone who is annoyed by any thread can very easily just stay out of that thread.

I guess the only thing I would point out here is that the games and chronicles thread started to essentially hijack the 'Show All Recent Posts" feature here on the site. If you didn't visit regularly, other content besides the monkey games started to get buried deep within the pages of the site very fast. I can understand how that might be annoying. I'm online all day every day and I even found myself having to go six pages or more deep into recent posts to find all the other contributions. I can't imagine how it was for someone who hadn't visited for a couple of days.

I didn't see any harrassment on the forum. That, of course, would be totally unacceptable.

In addition to what Scott said....

I don't have a problem trying to skip the threads that don't interest me.
The problem I have is when the people posting change the title of an exiting thread. It's misleading!
I think I'm reading a new post/thread and it's just a link back to the threads that I'm trying to avoid or have already read.

I'm sure Moonfish would have been glad to hear your kind words.   However, he had become exhausted from his time on KF and in his delirium, walked out in font of an 18 wheeler and alas, he moved on to the next world.  And unless he can do something no one else has been able to do, he likely will not be back.

His spirit keeps in touch with me now and again, so if you need to contact him ...  Wink

The Old Part of Kiva Town

I was strolling through the old part of Kiva town - you know - where all the old buildings are.  Some are still functioning while others have decayed. At the Moonfish Chronicles - I see a sign that said “Building Condemned” and a banner across it saying “Moved to Moonfish Lotto Madness - Across the River”.

So I went on over there  http://moonfishlotto.blogspot.com/   and what do you know,  I found a place where people can go and just sit around and discuss what they would do if they ever won a big lottery. Just a small building mind you and not fully constructed yet - but it is a place to unwind and heck knows …I and some others need it  Wink
