So, I was in the chat room this evening (I know, hard to believe) chatting with two other KFers. Simpy put, one wanted to do something interesting to benefit the KF site itself so an idea was hatched and here it is...
The record for most KivaFriends on a single loan - as defined by having KivaFriends under their lender avatar (not just in their profile) - was established by Lily's loan at 32 (thanks everyone). If that number can be broken, one KFer who wishes to remain anonymous will donate $100 to Joe's tip jar... The second KFer in chat, who also wishes to remain anonymous, said, 'hey, I'm down with that! I'll put in another $50!" (she didn't really say that exactly, but you get the drift). And well, me, I'm not going to make the traditional loan in someone's honor, but rather, I'll give a $25 Kiva Gift Certificate (1 Kiva Loan) to a random KFer who appears on the loan so that they can choose a loan and have it be in their own portfolio - just for trying - whether we break the record or not.
We decided to choose a loan that was kind of languishing so we went for this loan in Bolivia that has 15 days left whose description ends: "Their only aim is to increase their income to improve the way of life for their children." It's a 5 Star MFI and a 6 month loan, repaid monthly.
http://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=businesses&action=about&id=54280&_tpos=6&_tpg=31I'd be happy to see Lily's record fall and so soon. But, to be sure, this has been an active month and we know that not everyone currently has Kiva credits right now... this loan might be around for a while so maybe that will help, but we realize that it won't be possible for everyone and that's no problem at all!
For all those who can make it - see you there... 1 down... 32 to go.
