I wouldn't be opposed to something like this. Perhaps move it up a few months each year and have it rotate around the calendar.

Generally, December and January are not good months because of the Holiday Factor!  So maybe March-May or Sept-November are good months.  (This year February had stock outs as well!)  Skipping Holiday Factor months and the busy summer months, mean 6/12 are available.

Agree on that. Is the best date around the 1 of month to find a new fresh big loan available ?, or around the 15 when its payback time?
Anyway if people knows about it its always possible to save paidback funds from the 15 of the month before if date was set to the 1.
Would also encourage new funds to set the date to the first ?

September could also be used this year if its not to late to change it to september ?

BTW which dates are used for lon a thon by the Atheist team ?

Well, I had a hard time finding a nice Bolivian loan with currency protection. I ended up with one from Peru that has a history of 0% currency exchange loss instead. There's space for 147 more lenders on this loan. It's going to be tough to break the current record, but we can try. Here is the loan we'll be using.

http://www.kiva.org/lend/206884

I also noticed that changes to your mailing preferences are not picked up right away so for example, KivaFriends.org is not yet showing up under my lender icon, so I'll keep an eye on that.

Thanks everyone and good luck!

Okay, here is some fun news already on our record breaking loan. An anonymous donor has generously donated a $25 gift certificate to be awarded at the end of the attempt to a random KF participant, so look, now this loan might not even cost you!

In addition, I'm going to join in with the anonymous donor and offer my own $25 gift certificate to a random KF participant as well to be awarded at the end!

Woo hoo!

Nonny (or anyone else), I see now that KivaFriends.org is showing up under your lender avatar. Did you put http://KivaFriends.org in the City field under My Account/Mailing Address? I've put mine in there, but it continues to show my old city info under my lender avatars.

Thanks,

You need to edit the location that shows on your lender page. Changing the location in your account will not do the trick.

Ah, of course, thanks for the pointer!

I'm in.

Just to clarify, the loan selected does have currency exchange loss "covered" not just a history of no loss (yet).

Be careful to only mess with "My Lender Page" address, leaving your mailing address in My Account for real.

Otherwise Kiva might inadvertently send your escheating funds to the town or state kivafriends.org.   Smiley
