Philosophy, Religion & Spirituality
Clearly, the mission of Kiva – to connect people through lending for the sake of alleviating poverty – is based on an ethical imperative.  It's not surprising, then, that Kiva Friends discussions occasionally find their way to examining the underpinnings of a Higher Power from a diversity of philosophical, religious and spiritual perspectives.

Sustainable Development
Sustainable development meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. The three key dimensions of economic, social and environmental sustainability can be seen in many Kiva Friends discussions as well because, at a most fundamental level, Kiva is about sustainable development.  Sustainable economic development for the entrepreneurs, Field Partners and Kiva itself are core elements of the Kiva lending model. Themes like social entrepreneurship and social impact can be found among the topics. Many discussions at Kiva Friends also touch upon green and other environmentally sound ways to to help alleviate global poverty. KF Search or Google for terms like "sustainable" and "sustainability" to show many more comments within several other discussions not listed here.

Fundraising Drives
Kiva-related fundraising drives are quite popular with Kiva Friends.  Of course, most of these activities are related to funding Kiva Entrepreneur loans.  They may be related to ongoing shopping and affiliate programs, short-terms drives with a specific theme, and efforts to support specific entrepreneurs.  Some fundraising drives go beyond funding loans and involve additional donations, such as to Kiva, its Field Partners, or entrepreneurs and their families to help meet an identified need.

Group Loans
Kiva offers many group loans.  They can trace their roots back to the beginnings of such credit lending models pioneered by Muhammad Yunus and the Grameen Bank.  Here are a few topics on the subject.
