OK here's a test.

I grabbed a random (not small) loan from the first page.

http://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=businesses&action=about&id=56475

Keeping this on the List View, I run my mouse across all the lender icons in Row 1.  All are link-clickable (except the "blank heads").
I run my mouse across all the lendernames for Row 1.  All are link-clickable.
I run my mouse across all the lender icons for Row 2.  All are link-clickable.
I run my mouse across all the lendernames for Row 2.  The first five lendernames are not link-clickable, my cursor shows a "move hand" instead. Starting at the 6th entry (Roy, NY NY), the rest in that row are link-clickable.
The rest of the lender icons and lendernames on that loan are fine.

Let's try another.

http://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=businesses&action=about&id=57147

Row 1 icons and names are all fine.
In Row 2, the first six names/links are not link-clickable, we see the "move hand" instead.  The last two names/links on that line are fine.
In Row 3, the names are link-clickable, but the icons are not.

I am hoping someone else can confirm these findings.  I am using Firefox 2.0.0.16 on WinXP, and this behavior began when the Map Link code was installed.

Diane,

no problems here with Firefox 3.0 and Windows Vista.

Sorry,
Wolfgang.

It must be a Firefox 2 issue. Firefox 3 under WinXP works fine on the loans you listed.

I'm also using FF 2.0 but didn't notice the problem until Diane mentioned it.  I'm o.k. with it though because the problems I was having with FF 3.0 were much worse than this little glitch.  I'll wait a few more weeks before I upload the 3.0 version again.

exactly reproduced by me, Diane, same Firefox 2.0.0.16 on XP (SP2).  I checked both pages in Internet Explorer 7 as well, and they both work fine in that.

Like Margie, I ditched FF3 recently as the way it was thrashing the CPU made it almost unusable for me Sad

FF 3.0.1 on XP and it all works as expected for me.

Have you tried: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode

Quote
Safe Mode is a special Firefox execution mode that can be used to troubleshoot issues in Firefox. In Safe Mode, you can reset some settings or disable extensions and themes that might be the source of the issue. By comparing Firefox behavior in normal mode to its behavior in Safe Mode with various items disabled, you may be able to diagnose issues.

Note: Windows users may be familiar with a Safe Mode for Windows. Firefox Safe Mode has no connection to Windows Safe Mode.

I'm thinking that if several of us still using Firefox 2.0 are having problems, it shouldn't be up to us to diagnose the error, but rather the engineers who coded the change, since their goal is likely to maintain backwards compatibility (especially with something like Firefox 2.0/3.0 changes).  I suspect that only a tiny percentage of Kiva's Firefox users have upgraded to 3.0 yet.  (Just a guess: most are not crashtest dummies like us.  Smiley )  If it were just me seeing the weirdness, I'd figure I needed to do some diagnosing.  Since there are at least 3 of us, all using Firefox 2.0...... we're just the leading edge of the curve.

So do I  Thumbs Up

I find it interesting that they have integrated a map here, my challenge for Kiva would be to use maps etc in Lender Portfolio (public and private) pages.  Something like this would be great: http://www.editgrid.com/user/cweddell/My_Kiva_Loans.myloansexhibit.html (a couple of screenshots below).

Christopher those screenshots for your editgrid things are really interesting too!  I did start using editgrid awhile back, but haven't used it recently.  I will perhaps need to PM you with some questions about a few things regarding my editgrid stuff sometime soon.

Kiva has announced the Map Feature on their site. The good news is that the announcement ends with this:

http://kivanews.blogspot.com/2008/07/announcing-kiva-maps.html

My eyes lit up when I got to the end of the article. What a really nice and generous thing Kiva has done for us! I checked it out on the Record loan and sure enough the map is now full of lines.

[...]

Anyway, a big Way to go Kiva!

-Scott

Scott thanks for posting a link to the Kiva blog announcement!  Just as your eyes lit up at the mention of KivaFriends on there, my eyes lit up when I saw hey, that's the screenshot I made there; I was just surprised it was deemed good enough to use lol!  Nice to know I'm good for something after all.  Laugh

Thank you Kiva for this new feature!   Party

And I hope the kinks will be worked out for you soon Diane and those who are/were having some problems with the maps and your version of Firefox!

I just noticed that there's now a "map view" option on Kiva lender pages...

You can zoom in to see individual loans, though Google Maps seems to have to work very hard to do that, and it's quite a slow process.

P

edit: I experimented looking at a recent loan I share with quite a few other KFs, including Matthew(Good Dogg) and Kay. All lender profiles loaded with the exception of Matthew's and Kay's, which both lead after a brief delay only to Kiva's "oops" page - not even list view is accessible.  I think their 4000+ loans each might have defeated Google Maps....
