Has anyone else here noticed the new feature on Kiva?  When you are on an entrepreneur's loan request, look down to the lender section and now you have 2 choices in the way you view that section on the loan!  You can view it the regular way with all the lenders and their avatars (List view), or you can choose Map view and see a map linking all the lenders to the entrepreneur on a global map!

I think this is pretty nifty Kiva!  Thumbs Up

Very cool feature. I see one problem with it for us. I was looking at our Record Breaking loan (http://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=businesses&action=about&id=54280&_tpos=6&_tpg=31) and when I went to view the map feature, hoping to see a gazillion lines, well, there were only about six... WHAT!? I did some experimenting with my account and have verified that having http://KivaFriends.org in either the City or State field causes you to be left off the map feature... Well, that's kind of a bummer... I mean, I don't really care if I'm not on the map, but I bet others might and perhaps new users might not want to lose that ability by adding KivaFriends to their lender avatar.

Anyway, fwiw,

I must be doing something wrong, but when I pull up a loan, I can see where it has List View and Map View, however, it doesn't let me choose either of them.  Is this feature not yet available on all loans?

Scott, you must be right because our KF is part of our name not in the City spot...

Sandy, when I put my cursor over the List View or Map View, it doesn't change to a symbol thing like I see everywhere else over a link, it just changes to a "I" type thingy.  But if you click anyway it should bring up the map for you. Smiley

Scott and Jan when I try the Kanahuara Group loan, the map doesn't even come up with any connective lines at all for me, just lonely little leaves scattered here and there willynilly and not enough to be representative of the many lenders that are on there.  Sad  That's no fun!

Okay, I tried the Ann Sam Ol loan that Jan posted.  Whatever Jan did works correctly so everybody do what she did on her lender page!  Laugh (And she does have KivaFriends in there and everything shows up properly.)

well... Hat Wave hooray for me  Hat Wave
I didn't do anything but put KivaFriends as part of our name.
I just have Jan & John, KivaFriends as the display name.
Lucky our name is short cause you can only have 24 characters.
There was no room for the .org part so it's never been a real link to KivaFriends.org like everyone else's...
but I do love it when I end up doing something right by accident.

Way to go Jan, pat on da back!  Cheesy  At least we know there's one way to do it that works for those who want it, eh?

I've been fiddling around with the maps and some of my loans, to see which ones work the way they should and not all of them do.  Shocked  The one I had posted about in the OP only had 9 lenders on it (Moonfish was there on it too!  Smiley), everything worked fine.

But when I tried the 'Lily loan' (http://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=businesses&action=about&id=49888) and the #50,000 loan (http://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=businesses&action=about&id=50000) which both have lots and lots of avatars in the lender sections, well, they don't work either.  When the loan page comes up, it says "Error on page" with a caution symbol in the status bar.

Sandy, maybe you tried a loan page that had many, many avatars on it?  The ones I've tried so far that have worked were loans of a few hundred dollars.  I haven't tried all different amounts though.

So it appears that things are still a wee bit glitchy at this time, ho hum....
